Theatre Royal Bath has released a brand-new brochure with details of productions confirmed to appear in the Main House, Ustinov Studio and The Egg, including new show announcements and casting updates for the coming programme from June 2026 until May 2027.

With details of more than 50 shows and events, the brochure features twelve newly announced productions in the Main House, including A Tale of Two Cities; Sister Act; Before I Go to Sleep; A Thousand Splendid Suns; English Touring Opera; Twelve Angry Men; Agatha Christie’s The Hollow; King Lear and Richard II; Blood Brothers and Blithe Spirit. A Child’s Christmas in Wales will also appear in the Ustinov Studio.
Newly announced shows are open for general booking from Friday 5 June.
NEW CASTING UPDATES
New casting has been announced for the Theatre Royal Bath Production of Abigail’s Party, the razor-sharp modern classic from Mike Leigh, which visits the Theatre Royal Bath from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 June 2026. Joining Tamzin Outhwaite, who leads the cast as one of the most iconic characters in British theatre, Beverly, is Kevin Bishop as Laurence, Omar Malik and Lauren Patel as Tony and Angela with Pandora Colin as Sue. The production visits Bath as part of a UK tour before transferring to the Harold Pinter Theatre in the West End.
Adapted by Clive Francis from Graham Greene’s novel, Our Man in Havana will visit Bath’s Theatre Royal from Tuesday 4 to Saturday 8 August 2026, with new casting announced. Joining Jack Ashton (Call The Midwife) will be Bob Barrett (Holby City), Leon Ockenden, (Waterloo Road) and Jodie Steele (Heathers The Musical – New York and London) playing over 30 characters to bring 1950s Havana vividly to life in this wonderfully funny and fast-moving romp!
Further new casting has also been announced for the Theatre Royal Bath Production of Noël Coward’s celebrated and hilarious portrayal of the temptations and pitfalls of theatrical celebrity, Present Laughter, appearing at the Theatre Royal from Thursday 27 August to Saturday 5 September 2026, prior to the West End. Joining Tracy-Ann Oberman as Geri Essendine in this new production is James Dreyfus recently seen in Bath in By Royal Appointment. Lindsay Posner directs, fresh from his West End triumphs of Noises Off starring Felicity Kendal, A View From the Bridge starring Dominic West and The Deep Bue Sea starring Tamsin Greig.
New casting has been revealed for the thrilling new stage adaptation of the best-selling novel by Mark Haddon, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, visiting the Theatre Royal Bath from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 November 2026 as part of a major UK tour. Starring Joe McFadden (The Shawshank Redemption, UK tour; 2:22 - A Ghost Story, West End; Strictly Come Dancing winner 2017) and EastEnders favourite Charlie Brooks (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, UK tour; Ocean at the End of the Lane, National Theatre) as Chris’s parents Ed and Judy.
NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED:
Adapted by Terence Rattigan (The Winslow Boy, The Deep Blue Sea) and John Gielgud, based on one of the best-selling novels of all time by Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities is an epic story of love, sacrifice and redemption which asks: is there any price too great to pay for love? The Marlowe Theatre production which is directed by Michael Fentiman (Amélie, RSC’s Titus Andronicus, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Loot) is set to appear at Bath’s Theatre Royal from Friday 15 to Saturday 23 January 2027.
Based on the best-selling novel by S.J. Watson and adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff, acclaimed actor, author and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher stars in the world stage premiere of Before I Go To Sleep. Based on the international bestselling novel that became a hit-film starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth, this thrilling new adaptation directed by Loveday Ingram comes to Theatre Royal Bath from Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 January 2027. From the team behind the hugely successful stage adaptation of The Girl on the Train, this tense, fast-paced psychological thriller explores the terrifying vulnerability of memory, identity and trust.
Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society, Bath’s award-winning amateur company return to the stage at the Theatre Royal, from Tuesday 2 to Saturday 6 February 2027. The acclaimed company return with another smash-hit feel, good musical, Sister Act, based on the Touchstone Pictures Motion Picture, Sister Act, written by Joseph Howard. Featuring original music by Tony Award and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted, Little Shop of Horrors) and songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco, this heavenly musical is both joyous and uplifting in equal measure.
Following a sell-out run at Birmingham Rep in 2025, the stage adaptation by Ursula Rani Sarma of Khaled Hosseini’s multi-million selling novel A Thousand Splendid Suns will tour to Bath, From Tuesday 2 to Saturday 6 March 2027.
English Touring Opera will once again take to the stage at Theatre Royal Bath, performing two productions over two days. The company will perform Tosca by Puccini on Monday 22 March, the epic drama at a human scale and Orpheus and Eurydice by Gluck on Tuesday 23 March 2027, the timeless story of ill-fated love. Both shows are new productions and will be performed in English with English captions.
Following record-breaking West End seasons, the powerful Bill Kenwright production of Twelve Angry Men is back in session and back in Bath from Wednesday 24 to Saturday 27 March 2027. Reginald Rose’s gripping courtroom thriller stars Gray O’Brien (Coronation Street, Peak Practice), Bill Ward (Emmerdale, Coronation Street), Tristan Gemmill (Casualty, Coronation Street) and Ben Nealon (Soldier Soldier) who have all previously performed at the Theatre Royal, with Ricky Norwood (EastEnders).
Renowned detective Hercule Poirot is drawn into one of the most unsettling cases of his career when Agatha Christie’s The Hollow visits Bath from Tuesday 30 March to Saturday 3 April 2027. This new version by Tamzin Oglesby follows sell-out tours of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. Fiery Angel reunites with director Lucy Bailey to bring this darkly seductive new staging of one of Agatha Christie’s most compelling mysteries to the Theatre Royal.
Triple Olivier Award winner Roger Allam, and Olivier Award nominee Freddie Fox, lead a repertory company in this double bill of King Lear and Richard II by William Shakespeare. Allam will play the roles of King Lear and the Duke of York, while Fox will play the villainous Edmund and King Richard II. The Orange Tree Production is directed by Tom Littler following their recent Bath productions of The Rivals, Suite in Three Keys, and The Circle, and will appear at the Theatre Royal from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 24 April 2027.
Willy Russell’s legendary Blood Brothers is set to make a welcome return to Bath from Tuesday 4 to Saturday 8 May 2027. Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award-winning Bill Kenwright production, having run for more than 10,000 performances in London’s West End and has been affectionately christened the ‘Standing Ovation Musical’.
One of the UK’s most popular actresses, Felicity Kendal will make a welcome return to Bath, when she takes on one of British theatre’s most outlandish characters, the eccentric clairvoyant Madame Arcati, in a brand-new production of Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit. Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Lee Dean present the supernatural comedy – directed by Lindsay Posner – which appears at the Theatre Royal from Thursday 13 to Saturday 22 May 2027.
The Ustinov Studio Christmas show is announced to be Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales, presented by The Emma Rice Company, appearing from Wednesday 9 to Thursday 24 December 2026. Adapted and directed by Emma Rice, with music by Ian Ross, this new stage adaptation will see Dylan Thomas’ beloved poem woven into a beautiful hour of heart-melting music, puppetry, candles, shadows and rare imagination. The Emma Rice Company make their Ustinov Studio debut, following many highly-acclaimed Main House productions including Blue Beard, North by Northwest and Malory Towers.
Also added to the Special Event series is Courtship with Kim Hicks on Friday 11 September; Austen’s Arcadia with Jane Tapley on Friday 11 and Friday 18 September; Draw Back the Curtain on Friday 11 and Friday 18 September; Pride & Prejudice – The Killing at Netherfield Park, at The Bird Hotel, Bath on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September and Soup to Syllabub at The Bird Hotel, Bath on Wednesday 16 September.
