What are you responsible for at Visit West?
My job is to oversee and manage Visit West. This includes working with the managers and team to develop business plans, activity plans and strategies. The work is incredibly varied but includes representing the destinations at national and local forums such as English Heritage Cities, Core Cities and the Great West Way Advisory Board.
My role involves representation of the visitor economy sector locally and the destinations nationally, working in partnership with organisations across the region and beyond. Through experience and research, I aim to identify and develop future trends, particularly around food, film, the cultural sector, and extending visitor stays.
I am also a board member of UKInbound and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, vice-president of the Tourism Management Institute (TMI), and a member of the Tourism Industry Council.

What are you responsible for at Visit West?
My role is predominantly sales focused, whether that's digital, print or campaigns. It's been one of those ever-evolving roles that started off specifically looking after the Bath accommodation members and a little bit of digital advertising. I've also continued to support the membership side of things, purely due to the relationships I've built over the years, which spices up my day with some variation. I've also been involved in the travel trade side of things, including collating information from members making them 'trade ready.'

I job share the Digital Marketing Manager role, with the wonderful Shonette. She and I are similar enough to work very well together but different enough to have specific strengths and primary focuses. I largely focus on keeping VisitBristol.co.uk, VisitBath.co.uk and VisitWest.co.uk and all the associated websites up to date. Creating new pages and sections, features, editing and updating content, SEO, new developments, overseeing any new websites and liaising regularly with our development and web team.

I job share with the lovely Laura as Digital Marketing Manager, luckily we compliment each other very well so I tend to look after the social media, newsletters and writing the odd food blog for the websites, but I also dip in with updating pages, member listings, adding events and all the other tasks to keep the website up to date (the analogy of painting the Severn Bridge comes to mind…)
