Grid Faeries x Ecotricity are the official sponsors of the Main Stage at this year’s Love Saves The Day festival, taking place at Ashton Court, Bristol, on 23–24 May.
In a major step towards decarbonising live events, the Main Stage will be powered using battery technology charged with 100% green energy from the wind and sun — removing the need for traditional diesel generators.
The Grid Faeries battery system comes packed with 3,000 units of stored energy, supported by additional wind turbines and solar panels that help recharge the batteries while the show is live.
To put that into perspective, the battery system and additional renewable generation could power an average UK home for around 425 days.
Grid Faeries are on a mission to remove diesel generators from events for good — so audiences hear only the sound of music, not engines. Since 2024, the company has powered some of the UK’s biggest stages and events, including the Arcadia Dragonfly stage at Glastonbury, the Charlie Gillett Stage at WOMAD, Massive Attack: Act 1.5 Climate Action Accelerator on the Clifton Downs in Bristol, as well as the LIDO Festival and All Points East in London.

Dale Vince OBE, Founder of Ecotricity, said: “Festivals have relied on diesel generators for decades, but that’s starting to change. It’s great to be partnering with LSTD to show that major live events can be powered by clean energy from the wind and sun. Festival by festival, we’re proving that there’s a better way to power live music — one that cuts carbon, reduces noise, and helps protect the future of live events.”
Claire O’Neill, Co-Founder of A Greener Future, said: “Seeing battery-powered stages becoming a reality at major festivals is a huge milestone for the events industry. Grid Faeries x Ecotricity are demonstrating that clean alternatives to diesel are not only possible, but practical at scale. The transition away from fossil fuels at live events is accelerating, and initiatives like this help show what the future can look like.”
Tom Paine, Festival Director, said: “Love Saves The Day is kicking off the UK festival season with a fantastic line-up. The Main Stage will be powered by the wind and the sun for the first time ever at Ashton Court. It’s our love letter to music and electronic community, creating a top-quality, inclusive event that also holds environmental responsibility as a central core focus. Reducing our impact on the planet is a priority, so it’s fantastic to be partnering with Grid Faeries x Ecotricity to help power the show without fossil fuels.”
Grid Faeries x Ecotricity is participating in the West of England’s Clean Power Pilot: the world’s first renewable energy hub of its kind, guaranteeing clean power to major festivals and film/television shoots at scale. The programme aims to reduce pollution and help provide cleaner air to those who attend, live near, work on, or perform at this summer’s events.
Clean energy is a major growth sector for the region, with an ambition through this pilot to raise awareness of related training and employment opportunities. There will be further announcements on this programme later this summer.
