Supported by Visit West, the world premiere of this artwork will transform acres of the Hospice’s Winsley grounds from 1 October to 31 December 2026, marking the organisation’s 50th anniversary with a breathtaking immersive experience offering reflection, connection, and remembrance.
World class art, nature and bereavement
Building on the success of Bruce Munro’s transformative global light installations in Australia, Japan, USA, South Korea, many European cities, and his much‑loved permanent Firefly Woods installation at Dorothy House, Moments of Light invites visitors to wander among thousands of illuminated forms, creating a constellation of light that will seem to breathe with the landscape.
Alongside the existing Firefly installation within the Hospice woodland, Moments of Light forms part of an evolving collaboration that uses creativity and nature to support people through grief, offering comfort and connection. By drawing on light in the dark, the installation speaks quietly of life continuing, even in moments of loss.
Ticketing
While tickets are free, visitors will be invited to make a suggested donation, with all proceeds helping the Hospice continue to provide free, specialist end of life care for people and their loved ones. Visitors will also have the opportunity to dedicate a light on a Firefly — a beautiful way to honour a loved one and become part of a growing constellation of remembrance.
With bookable tickets now live, demand will be high. Dorothy House invites everybody to visit this once in lifetime installation to reflect, to remember, or to experience a moment of peace within the glow of Bruce Munro’s extraordinary vision.
A landmark moment in Dorothy House’s 50‑year story
For five decades, Dorothy House has provided specialist care, compassion and support to 75,000 people in the last 1,000 days of their lives. Moments of Light forms a centrepiece of its anniversary year, opening the Winsley site to visitors from across the UK and inviting them to experience the work of a Hospice through a new creative lens.
Wayne de Leeuw, CEO, Dorothy House, said: "As part of our vision to create a society where death is part of life, Moments of Light reflects the very heart of Dorothy House. For 50 years, we have walked alongside people during some of the most tender moments of their lives. This installation brings that spirit of compassion and reflection to a wider community of individuals who will inevitably all encounter death and grief at some point in their lives.”
Bruce Munro, Artist & Dorothy House Ambassador, said: “I am honoured to create this new work for Dorothy House as part of its anniversary celebrations. My hope is that Moments of Light will offer visitors a space to breathe, reflect and feel held within an environment shaped by care, beauty and nature.”
