The theme for Longleat’s iconic lantern spectacular has been unveiled with highlights including the creation of the lost city of Atlantis and the chance to walk under a life-sized whale.

The Wiltshire estate is home to the original immersive lantern experience, The Festival of Light, and this year is inviting guests to walk in the footsteps of Legends.

Legendary Worlds runs on selected dates from 7 November 2026 – 10 January 2027.

Scott Ashman, Head of Operations at Longleat, said “It’s always exciting to announce the upcoming theme for The Festival of Light, no more so than this year when we celebrate the 60th anniversary of our Safari Park.

“Back in 1966 we were the first to open a Drive-Through Safari outside of Africa and we were the first to bring lanterns to the UK over 10 years ago.  Creating extraordinary experiences is part of what we do so it is fitting that this year guests can follow a 2.6-kilometre route through various mythical worlds and legends.

“Explore the breathtaking lost city of Atlantis, an immersive undersea wonderland where you can even walk underneath a life-sized whale, visit the Knights of the Round Table and immerse yourself in the world of the Zodiac, all spectacularly reimagined in lantern form.

“Meet mythical beasts from colossal giants and dragons to phoenixes, forest fairies and magical creatures.

"There will be over 1,000 lanterns across the park, creating an unforgettable and magical family experience. We are really looking forward to it.”

Included in this year’s event will be the mighty Thor as he battles the World Serpent, the Trojan Horse on its way to victory and lands full of mythical beasts.

Also included are The Enchanted Christmas Tree show, featuring the UK’s largest singing Christmas tree, seasonal market huts and the Longleat House Light show, all part of the festive cheer.

Scott added: “We recommend booking as early as possible for the best availability, as dates will sell out, especially if you’re looking to enjoy our add-on Santa Train experience.

“There are a variety of ticket types available, starting from £34.95 when booking in advance. Guests can enjoy the full Longleat experience complete with The Festival of Light with our Day Tickets, and we also have Non-Safari Day Tickets and Twilight Tickets available.”
