Award-winning campsite Mendip Basecamp is calling on local performers to take centre stage this summer with the launch of a brand-new talent competition, as part of its Mendip Mini Fests - six family-friendly festivals taking place across selected weekends in July and August.
Open to solo acts, duets and groups, the competition offers a unique opportunity for local talent to perform in front of a live festival audience.
Celebrating Local Creativity and Talent
Mendip Basecamp is inviting performers to step into the spotlight with a 30-minute set on the brand-new Bandwagon stage, with real lights and real sound. Designed to showcase talent from across the region, the competition is set to become a highlight of the summer programme.
David Eddins, CEO of Mendip Adventure, says, “We’re really excited to open up our brand-new Bandwagon stage to local talent. Mendip Basecamp has always had a great community feel, and our talent competition is a brilliant way to celebrate the incredible performers we have locally."

About Mendip Basecamp
Basecamp is an award-winning campsite, named Best Campsite in Bristol, Bath & Somerset in 2023, and second-best in the South West Tourism Awards. It began as a school activity camp, and opened to families in July 2020 when schools closed during the pandemic. Set within 250 acres of countryside, the campsite quickly became popular for its relaxed atmosphere, campfires, and freedom to pitch where you like.
Facilities have expanded each year, and now include multiple toilet and shower blocks, plus a Pavilion serving food, drinks and barista coffee, alongside a fully stocked shop. Located in the heart of the Mendip Hills, the site is also home to Mendip Activity Centre, offering more than 20 bookable outdoor activities, including: skiing, tobogganing, frisbee golf, rock climbing, abseiling, and more. Guests can enjoy family entertainment during the summer, and live music every Saturday.
