Now in its 12th year, the Tour de Bristol is the city’s largest charity cycling event and raises vital funds for St Peter’s Hospice, Bristol’s only adult hospice. Riders can choose from 40km, 65km or 100km routes, all starting at the UWE Centre for Sport and taking participants through the beautiful South Gloucestershire countryside.
Last year’s event saw over 1300 cyclists take part, raising an impressive £140,000 for patient care. Across its history, more than 10,500 riders have collectively generated over £1.28 million, making Tour de Bristol one of the Hospice’s most impactful fundraising events.
The 2026 ride promises to be the biggest and most enjoyable yet, with feed stations, chip timing, a finisher’s medal, and an expanded event village featuring more entertainment and a wider range of merchandise. The Hospice also hopes to offer post-ride sports massages delivered by volunteer physiotherapists.
There is also the option to take part virtually for those who cannot make the event date, allowing supporters to choose their own route and distance while still raising funds for the Hospice.
Molly O’Donoghue, Fundraising Events Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “Bristol’s biggest bike ride is close to selling out! It is so exciting to be back with the 12th annual Tour de Bristol, every year it grows and every year our riders amaze us with their commitment.
“We’re already delighted to have over 1,100 cyclists signed up with new bookings coming in every day so we’re encouraging anyone keen to take part to book as soon as possible. The money raised makes a real difference to our patients and their families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.”
Funds raised from the Tour de Bristol support patients across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, helping the Hospice provide both inpatient and community-based care for people with life-limiting illnesses. It costs £30,000 every day to run the Hospice, and fundraising events like the Tour de Bristol play an essential role in sustaining these services.
The Tour de Bristol takes place Saturday 18 April 2026, 7am–5pm, starting at UWE in Stoke Gifford.
