Young history hunters will step into the world of the Romans as they explore Bath’s number one rated attraction. Discover a remarkable collection of unique Roman objects, revealing the craftsmanship and everyday experiences of ancient Bath, walk through Roman spaces brought to life with video recreations, meet costumed characters beside the steaming Great Bath, and enjoy free audio guides - including a lively children’s version narrated by celebrated author Michael Rosen.
Great value family tickets mean adults and children can enjoy The Roman Baths together for less, with a range of flexible ticket options. Family groups can save up to 50% compared with individual ticket prices, making it the best-value way to explore the site. Children aged five and under go free, and visitors aged 6-18 benefit from reduced child pricing. Plus, booking online in advance saves an additional £2 per person.
And this Easter, there’s even more for families to uncover - from spring crafts and archaeology sessions to torchlit evenings that bring the ancient site to life after dark.
Family fun: Eggcellent Archaeology Adventures!
Young visitors take the lead on an Eggcellent Adventure, a new seasonal trail running from 28 March – 19 April. Children follow clues to track down painted wooden eggs hidden throughout the museum, discovering surprising details about Roman life along the way and encouraging families to explore the site together.
For those keen to dig deeper into the past, Archaeology Adventures runs from 7–10 April. Budding archaeologists excavate replica Roman artefacts in a purpose‑built trench and learn real techniques used on archaeological digs today. Morning sessions cost £6 per child in addition to entry to The Roman Baths.
From 7-10 April, families are invited to join free drop‑in craft sessions inspired by Ceres, the Roman goddess of farming. Celebrating the spring festival of Cerealia, children will create a flower using seed paper to plant at home or school, while discovering more about the plants and seasonal traditions of the Roman world.
Easter evenings: Experience the Baths by torchlight
Over the Easter weekend (3-6 April), The Roman Baths will open late, giving visitors the chance to experience the landmark after dark. The site will remain open until 8pm (last entry 7pm), with the Great Bath lit by torchlight for a striking and atmospheric evening visit.
A pop-up bar beside the water will serve Champagne, prosecco, soft drinks, and hot chocolate from 12 noon-7.30 pm, offering a relaxed way to soak up the historic surroundings. Visitors can also join an evening guided tour to learn more about the site’s 2,000-year history. Easter Evening Dining will also be available at The Pump Room Restaurant from 3-5 April, offering live piano and a seasonal spring menu in one of Bath’s most iconic settings.
Councillor Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic & Cultural Sustainable Development, said:
