Bristol’s city centre venues are being invited to take part in the 2026 Bristol Harbour Festival Fringe, bringing the city’s biggest waterfront celebration into bars, galleries, cafes and creative spaces across Bristol.

Running alongside the main Bristol Harbour Festival from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 July 2026, the Fringe programme extends the festivities beyond the waterfront stages and into venues throughout the city centre. The initiative, supported by partners including Bristol Business Improvement District (BID), is designed to bring festival audiences into Bristol’s hospitality and cultural spaces.

New for 2026, city centre venues can join the Fringe completely free of charge, making it easier than ever for businesses to get involved, host events and benefit from increased footfall during one of Bristol’s busiest weekends. Participating venues can curate their own events, to be part of the celebrations.

Following the unification of the city’s three Business Improvement Districts into the new Bristol BID, the Fringe footprint has expanded, opening up opportunities for even more venues and independent businesses to take part.

The Fringe offers a valuable opportunity for venues to attract new customers, showcase their offer and tap into the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come to the city for Harbour Festival weekend. Previous participants have hosted live music, themed nights, food and drinks tastings and pop-up cultural events, helping to bring the festival atmosphere beyond the waterfront.

Anna Farthing, Interim Head of Place at Bristol BID, said: “The Bristol BID is a major contributor to funding Bristol Harbour Festival and recognises that it is a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar. We know it brings people from far and wide to celebrate Bristol’s incredible creative spirit. The Fringe programme adds value to the festival, giving local businesses the opportunity to welcome new customers through their doors. Events like this play an important role in supporting the city centre economy and showcasing the fantastic venues that make Bristol such a vibrant place.”

Noemi Antonelli, Director at Swans Events, said:“Bristol Harbour Festival is all about celebrating the creativity that makes this city so special. The Fringe programme allows us to take that energy beyond the waterfront and into venues across the city centre. This year, venues can join the programme for free, making it even easier for businesses to get involved. We hope this encourages even more venues, especially those who haven’t taken part before, to apply. It’s a fantastic opportunity for businesses to be part of the festival while supporting Bristol’s brilliant artists, musicians and performers.”

By joining the Fringe, venues can benefit from festival promotion, attract new audiences and become part of one of Bristol’s biggest cultural celebrations.

Applications for venues to take part in the 2026 Bristol Harbour Festival Fringe are now open and will close on Friday 5th June. Fringe participation details can be found on the Bristol Harbour Festival website. Businesses interested in getting involved can also contact harbourfestival@proudevents.co.uk.
