The award-winning Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society (BODS) are set to stage one of the most enduring musicals of all time when they present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Theatre Royal Bath from Tuesday 7 to Saturday 11 April. This beloved musical, with music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, was adapted for film in 1999 starring Donny Osmond and Joan Collins, and is full of unforgettable classics including Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door.

The story follows Joseph's rocky relationship with his brothers and employers, before his interpretations of dreams land him a job as Pharoah's right-hand man. But what of his fathers and brothers back home in famine-stricken Canaan? Can he forgive their past and save them in time for the show-stopping mega-mix finale?

One of the most acclaimed and well-established amateur companies in the region, Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society return to the Theatre Royal Bath with a cast of local performers made up of 45 adults and 28 children, aged from 9 to 60 years, who hail from Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire.

Performing the role of Joseph is Will Lunt, one of the newest members of Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society. Will appeared in the ensemble of Les Misérables: Let the People Sing, at the Bristol Hippodrome in 2025 which concluded with a performance at the Royal Variety Performance. His earlier theatre credits include the ensemble in Jesus Christ Superstar and Ellis in Ocean Madness. Appearing as Narrator is Emma Bingham a role which marks her first production with BODS. Previous credits with Bath Light Operatic Group include My Fair Lady (2024), and The Addams Family (2025), also appearing in the ensemble of Les Misérables at the Bristol Hippodrome during the Let The People Sing 40th Anniversary. When not performing, Emma teaches English at a local secondary school.

Completing the cast is Matthew Graham as Pharoah, Dave Key-Pugh as Jacob, Edward Corbishley as Rueben, Tony Cicerello as Simeon, Mark De Albuquerque as Levi, Henry Stratford as Napthali, Charlie Stratford as Issichar, James Alexander as Asher, Paul Hobbs as Dan, Alfie Jervis as Zebulun, Connor Browne as Gad, Christian Dawson as Benjamin and George Miles as Judah.

Director and choreographer is Lizzie Rose. Lizzie has choreographed many musicals, events, and showcases across the southwest. In 2023, she performed in and choreographed MissRed the Musical at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for Dare We Productions. Lizzie also runs her own performing arts school.

The creative team also includes Rob Henderson as Musical Director and Barbara Ingledew as Assistant Director.

Established in 1894 and originally called Bath Amateurs, Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society’s (BODS) illustrious history includes many acclaimed performances. Over the past decade at the Rose Bowl Awards, BODS’s won Best Choreography for West Side Story in 2016, Best Dramatic Production for Arcadia in 2018 and Best Musical Production for Crazy for You in 2022. Recent productions at the Theatre Royal include Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, 9 to 5 The Musical and Guys and Dolls.
