Local schoolchildren in Bath are being offered a thought-provoking and impactful learning experience, with a lawyer-led consent workshop as part of Suzie Miller’s award-winning play Prima Facie, which is currently on a tour of the UK and Ireland, and will visit Bath’s Theatre Royal for a sold-out run from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 February, performed in a tour-de-force, solo performance by the award-winning Jodie Comer.

The consent workshop for young people aged 16 years and over will take place at the Theatre Royal Bath on Wednesday 25 February from 1pm to 3pm. After taking part in the workshop, students can then experience a live performance of Prima Facie on the Main House stage from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Friday 27 February (understudy performance). Both events must be attended but for participants unable to travel on separate days, limited spaces are available to attend an NT Live screening of Prima Facie (performed by Jodie Comer) on Wednesday 25 February at 10.30am preceding the workshop.
Building on the powerful themes of Prima Facie, this special event combines a filmed performance of the play with an interactive workshop designed to deepen understanding, spark discussion, and encourage positive change.
Created in collaboration with Everyone’s Invited and the Schools Consent Project, the workshop provides a safe, structured space for students to reflect on the themes of the play, ask questions, challenge misconceptions, and build empathy and critical thinking skills. By engaging with Prima Facie’s story and its real-world implications, students will be encouraged to consider the kind of impact they want to have on the world around them.
The workshop aims to: deepen understanding of consent, the law, power dynamics, gender inequality, and rape culture; to encourage critical thinking and empathy towards survivors; promote informed, safe discussion of legal and ethical issues and empower students to reflect on their role in creating positive change.
This event provides a meaningful and curriculum-enhancing opportunity for young people to engage with complex issues through art, discussion, and expert insight.
Delivered by the Schools Consent Project (SCP)—a charity founded in 2015 by a criminal barrister—this session offers clear, accessible guidance on consent and the law. SCP’s lawyer-led workshops normalise conversations around boundaries, rights, responsibilities, and healthy interactions. Over the past decade, their team of 300+ lawyers has educated more than 70,000 young people across the globe.
Everyone’s Invited’s mission is to expose and eradicate rape culture with empathy, compassion, and understanding. They offer a safe space for all survivors to share their stories completely anonymously. Everyone’s Invited allows many survivors a sense of relief, catharsis, empowerment, and gives them a feeling of community and hope. Conversations with friends and personal experiences throughout school and university revealed to founder Soma Sara how widespread the issue is, and she began sharing her experiences of rape culture on Instagram. In light of the overwhelming response from those who resonated with her story, Soma founded Everyone’s Invited in June 2020. It later gained charitable status in 2022 alongside the launch of the Everyone's Invited education programme. So far, the programme has reached over 50,000 students across the UK.
Prima Facie is written by Suzie Miller, Olivier Award winner for Best Play, and helmed by Olivier Award winning director Justin Martin. The creative team also includes Rebecca Lucy Taylor – the Brit Award nominated star of Self Esteem – who is the production’s composer, alongside set & costume designer Miriam Buether, lighting designer Natasha Chivers, sound designers Max and Ben Ringham, video by Willie Williams for Treatment Studio and Kate Godfrey who will be the voice coach.
