As Bristol Light Festival’s charity partner for 2026, St Peter’s Hospice is joining Bristol Light Festival with Moments of Light, a one-off live event that brings music, storytelling and performance together in a shared celebration of life, care and community.

Presented in partnership with Bristol BID as part of Bristol Light Festival’s 2026 extended programme, BLF Events, Moments of Light will take place at Bristol Beacon’s Lantern Hall. The show invites audiences to gather for an evening of meaningful moments designed to stay with them long after the lights fade. Blending choirs, dance, spoken word and live performance, the event reflects on the power of connection and the role hospice care plays in supporting people and families across the region.

The evening, which will be hosted by Bristol born comedian, writer, actress and singer Jayde Adams, will open up space for reflection and shared experience through a rich programme of music, movement and storytelling. Choral performances will come from the City of Bristol Choir, led by acclaimed conductor and composer David Ogden, alongside the St Peter’s Hospice Choir, formed from the heart of the hospice community. Together, they will bring warmth, depth and collective voice to the evening, with music that reflects themes of care, remembrance and connection.

The programme will also include a short film from St Peter’s Hospice’s Brush Strokes art course, offering insight into how creativity supports expression and connection within palliative care, alongside a live conversation between a hospice nurse and service user that brings the realities and impact of hospice care into focus.

Movement and live performance will add further layers of energy and emotion to the night. Cuban dance artist Yandi of Tropica Dance Cuba will bring vibrant, expressive movement, while XE Dance will present a lyrical piece that explores light through fluid, emotive choreography. Companion Voices and Grief Choir will share reflections on their work supporting people and families at the end of life, highlighting the role of music, presence and human warmth during times of loss. Poet and performer Muneera Pilgrim will perform spoken word poetry filled with resonant moments drawn from lived experience.

The evening will culminate in Lighting Up Lives, a specially commissioned finale song by David Ogden and Anna Farthing, bringing together singers from across the City of Bristol Choir and St Peter’s Hospice Choir in a powerful collective moment of unity and hope, with Bristol’s much-loved Ambling Band adding bursts of colour and celebratory energy across the programme.

Susan Hamilton, CEO at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “At St Peter’s Hospice, we help people to live as best they can in the time that they have left, and through the care we give we allow light and love into people’s final days. The Moments of Light event will remember and celebrate the lives of those we care for and the incredible nurses who bring light to families every day. So far we have a stellar line up of choirs, dancers, musicians and a poet. We will also have a panel discussion with one of our amazing Hospice nurses and a service user who has experienced our care. We’re so pleased to be part of Bristol Light Festival and are looking forward to this magical evening.”

Anna Farthing, Interim Head of Place at Bristol BID, said: “The partnership reflects a natural alignment between Bristol Light Festival and St Peter’s Hospice, rooted in a shared understanding of light as both a creative and human force. While the festival brings light to the city’s streets and public spaces during the darkest months of the year, St Peter’s Hospice works year-round to bring light to people’s lives at their most difficult moments. As Bristol’s city hospice, supporting patients and families across homes, communities and care settings, this partnership adds depth, meaning and local resonance to the festival’s programme, grounding its celebration of light in compassion, care and lived experience.”

Moments of Light will take place at Bristol Beacon, with doors opening at 6.30pm and the performance beginning at 7pm. The event is suitable for audiences aged 15 and over and will feature unreserved seating. All timings are approximate and subject to change. Tickets for the show can be purchased online or at Bristol Beacon box office.
