One of Britain’s best-loved visitor attractions is looking for people celebrating their 60th birthday to help mark a very special milestone of its own.

Longleat is offering a free invitation to anyone turning 60 in April to join the celebrations as it marks the diamond anniversary of the opening of its Safari Park, which first welcomed visitors in 1966.

That year, Longleat made history by opening the world’s first drive-through safari park outside Africa, with lions roaming the Wiltshire countryside.

Over the decades, those pioneering beginnings have grown into a globally recognised attraction, now home to more than 120 species, many of them endangered or vulnerable, and underpinned by a strong commitment to conservation and animal welfare.

The Safari Park’s official anniversary falls on Easter Sunday, and to mark the occasion Longleat will host a special garden party weekend on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 April.

Included with the day ticket will be live music, traditional games and family-friendly entertainment, creating a celebratory atmosphere across the estate.

As part of the diamond anniversary, Longleat is extending the invitation to people who share the same milestone.

Scott Ashman, Head of Operations at Longleat, said: “Turning 60 is a moment worth celebrating, and we realised there are people across the country reaching that milestone at the same time as the Safari Park.

“We wanted to open the doors and invite them to celebrate with us. We’re offering free entry to anyone turning 60 in April so they can enjoy the day with family and friends and be part of this anniversary weekend,” he added.

Those eligible can book a free ticket using the code sixty26, with full details and terms available at longleat.co.uk.
