The event was attended by a group of invited guests, including Trustees of the Patricia Routledge Foundation, previous recipients of bursaries from Dame Patricia’s Trust, and the School’s staff and students.
The afternoon celebration was an opportunity for people to come together and remember Dame Patricia, her Bristol Old Vic Theatre School legacy, and the dedication and generosity she had shown to numerous trainee Actors over the past three decades of philanthropic support.
Speaking on behalf of the Patricia Routledge Foundation, Matthew Simms - Trustee said: “Patricia was very fond of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the opportunities that her training here had provided for her long and successful career. She loved Bristol and was so passionate about supporting future generations of creative professionals. She would have been in her element, if she was here today. She would have taken the time to speak with each of you and genuinely be interested and supportive of everything you’re doing!”
Head of Marketing & Development at the School Rob Langly-Swain said:
“As a School, we are honoured to have had the support of such an eminent figure in the TV and film sector. The legacy of Dame Patricia Routledge’s bursary support to our students is immeasurable, with so many beneficiaries having gone on to have wonderfully successful careers.
We're looking forward to continuing the relationship in Dame Patricia’s name, with the trustees of the Patrica Routledge foundation and thank them for their continued support.”
Dame Patricia Routledge supported students training at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School through the Patricia Routledge Foundation for more than 25 years. The Foundation has provided significant funding through bursaries that helped students with the cost of their training.
The re-naming of Studio 5 at the School to the Routledge studio, we hope, will inspire future generations of students and inspire them to tread in the footsteps of Dame Patricia’s greatness.
