Mendip Activity Centre Celebrates 10 Years of Twilight Tobogganing

2025 marks a decade of Twilight Tobogganing - a milestone celebration of festive family adventure at Mendip Activity Centre.  For the past decade, the Mendip team have welcomed thousands of families to a much-loved festive tradition, and 2025 promises to be more magical than ever. At its conception in 2016, the Mendip Team came together to create a festive experience with a difference, highlighting the values of family, adventure and the outdoors. 

This year's Twilight Tobogganing takes place from 7 November 2025 to 4 January 2026; each guest begins their adventure on the slope with a Zibob toboggan and a free Santa hat. Families can make magical memories with every run, racing down the outdoor slope lit by dazzling fairy lights and lasers, while joyful music fills the air and snowflakes fall from a real Hollywood-style snow machine. After earning a Santa-approved Toboggan License, families follow the woodland trail to a hidden grotto beneath a tree canopy twinkling with lights. Led by an instructor, guests gather around the glowing log fire to toast marshmallows for s’mores, sip delicious hot chocolate, and capture the evening with a sparkling festive photo opportunity.

New for 2025, Mendip Activity Centre has introduced a reimagined grotto with rustic hazel fencing, hand-built shelters, and dry-stone walls. Families can also take advantage of new Twilight Tobogganing Open Sessions, designed for children aged 4–12 who would like to book individually rather than as part of a private group.

I’ve loved it from the very beginning – bringing my own children along and watching them grow up with it. Seeing families come back year after year to share in the same joy and adventure is really special. It’s become part of Mendip’s story and part of so many families’ Christmas traditions, and that’s something I’m really proud of."

Guests can keep the festive spirit alive by visiting the licensed bar and café for seasonal treats, or by booking another winter adventure for the whole family. Twilight Tobogganing is an unforgettable holiday experience - and with 10 years of magical memories to celebrate, sessions are expected to sell out fast. At the time of writing, less than 30% of sessions remain.
