This festive season, step back in time at The Hall Estate, a magnificent Grade I-listed Jacobean mansion nestled in the heart of Bradford-on-Avon. From 14 November to 13 December 2025, visitors are invited to experience a Christmas unlike any other, one steeped in history and the timeless traditions of the English country house.

The Hall Estate, with its storied past spanning over four centuries, opens its grand oak doors for a series of Christmas Guided Tours that capture the spirit and splendour of a bygone age. Each room will be adorned for the season, offering a glimpse into how Christmas might once have been celebrated within these historic walls.

The guided tours provide a rare opportunity to explore one of Wiltshire’s most architecturally and historically significant houses, where every panelled corridor and carved mantelpiece tells a story. Visitors will meet a cast of remarkable former residents, from Elizabeth Chudleigh, the notorious Duchess of Kingston whose scandalous escapades fascinated Georgian high society, to Dr. Alex Moulton, the brilliant engineer and inventor whose pioneering suspension designs transformed the automotive industry and whose Moulton Bicycle became an enduring symbol of British innovation.

Your visit begins with the comforting aroma of mulled wine and freshly baked mince pies, setting the tone for an hour-long journey through the estate’s meticulously preserved 17th-century interiors. Guided by The Hall’s knowledgeable hosts, guests can admire an extraordinary collection of period furnishings, tapestries, and paintings, each detail revealing another layer of the house’s fascinating story.

Included in every tour is access to The Women at The Hall Exhibition, a moving and insightful display celebrating the lives and achievements of the women who shaped the estate over the past 400 years. Their stories, some forgotten until now, bring a deeply personal dimension to The Hall’s long and varied history.

After the tour, visitors are free to wander through seven acres of exquisite gardens, once described by Country Life as “amongst the most interesting of their kind in England.” Meander through winding paths and hidden corners, pause beside the deep ponds and ancient trees, and take in the peace and quiet of this enchanting winter landscape.
