St Nicholas Markets is the place to be for a magical Christmas experience. Step into Santa’s grotto to meet Santa and receive a gift or explore the festive outdoor markets – a family friendly place to discover handmade crafts and enjoy delicious street food.
With up to 40 traders lining Corn Street and Wine Street, the outdoor Christmas markets include 10 decorated traditional wooden chalets selling a range of gifts, crafts, fashion, accessories and food.
No Christmas is complete without a visit to see Santa, so why not book your place to visit him in his grotto and receive a special gift.
Councillor Andrew Brown, Chair of the Economy and Skills Committee, said: “With Christmas fast approaching, now is the perfect time to discover what St Nick’s has to offer. It’s a great place for all the family, with something there for everyone, whether you want to shop, eat and drink or just soak up the atmosphere and enjoy its history.
“With a diverse range of stalls and shops, the Markets offer a unique shopping experience in the city centre, and with so many independent traders it’s a great way to shop more sustainably and ethically, and support local independent businesses.”
The Christmas markets has received money from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and funding from the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.
St Nicholas Markets, fondly known as St Nick’s, has been the traditional centre of Bristol market activity since 1743.

Located just off Corn Street, in the heart of the Old City, the historic Markets are home to the largest collection of independent retailers in Bristol. All under one roof, the indoor market is divided into three sections and is home to over 60 traders within the Exchange Hall, Glass Arcade and Covered Market.
In the run up to Christmas, St Nicholas Markets are open every day from Friday 14 November to Christmas Eve.
Opening times: Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5pm, Saturdays from 9:30am to 6pm and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. On Christmas Eve the Markets will close at 3pm.
The market is a key business, tourism, cultural and heritage destination within the city centre for both residents and visitors, attracting 3.35m visitors in 2024.
Mid-week pitches are available for the outdoor Christmas markets for interested independent traders. To apply, visit the Trade with us page on the Markets website.
