As the festive season draws near, the National Trust is inviting visitors to experience the magic of Christmas at two of its most loved properties near Bristol - Tyntesfield and Dyrham Park.
From 1 December to 4 January, Tyntesfield will be transformed into a world of festive fairytales with Once Upon a Christmas Time. Visitors can explore imaginative installations inspired by classic tales, including a towering beanstalk in the hall, a Mad Hatter’s tea party in the library, and a magical wardrobe leading to a winter wonderland.
Outside, sparkling decorations and themed trails continue the enchantment, with creative workshops and festive concerts in the chapel. Developed in partnership with SuperCulture and local community groups, the experience blends art, storytelling, and seasonal joy.
Just outside Bath, Dyrham Park offers a nostalgic journey through Christmases past from 21 November to 4 January. Visitors will explore five festive eras, from Tudor traditions to the start of the new millennium, with each room dressed to reflect its time.
Highlights include a Victorian tree, wartime decorations, and a message from a young Princess Elizabeth. Outdoors, families can enjoy a deer discovery trail, festive garden walk, and weekend carol performances in the village church. Seasonal treats and handmade wreath workshops add to the experience.
Whatever your age, the National Trust offers unforgettable ways to celebrate Christmas near Bristol.
