Brunel’s SS Great Britain is preparing to welcome fearless adventurers of all ages for its most thrilling Halloween celebration to date. Running throughout the October half-term (25 October - 2 November 2025), the historic vessel will transform into a hub of family fun and spine-tingling activities designed to delight visitors of all ages.
Woeful Wounds – £3 per person
Returning by popular demand, the Woeful Wounds experience offers visitors a chance to be transformed by special effects make-up artists from SGS College. Using film and TV-grade make-up techniques, artists will create realistic injuries inspired by the types of wounds sustained by the ship's crew during the Victorian era. Available daily from 11am to 3pm in the First-Class Dining Saloon, Woeful Wounds is now open to the whole family for the first time, perfect for seasoned sailors and wee nippers aged 4 and above. Advance booking is recommended; walk-ups on a first-come, first-served basis will be available.
Haunted Ship
Brave souls can venture below deck to encounter the strange and supernatural. Ghostly apparitions of crew and passengers from bygone times await those daring enough to explore the atmospheric corridors of the ship, which will be adorned with cobwebs, skeletons, and spooky sounds and smells.
Terrifying Turnip Trail
The mischievous turnips have returned with a mission. Visitors can grab an activity sheet from the Visitor Centre and follow these troublesome vegetables around the ship as they reveal fascinating historical facts about Victorian Halloween traditions.
Visitor Information
All activities except Woeful Wounds are included free with general admission. Early bookers benefit from a 10% discount when purchasing tickets online in advance during the October half-term period. Better yet, all tickets include unlimited returns for a whole year, offering families ongoing discovery and exploration opportunities aboard this iconic ship and the two museums.
