Longleat House is showcasing its spookier side this October Half Term, as Ghost Tours return during the estate’s Great British Autumn event. The stately home was built between 1567 – 1580,  and it is believed to still have people who featured in its history making their presence felt. Guests can discover the supernatural stories as expert guides reveal the tale of Lady Louisa Carteret, known as the Grey Lady, who is said to still walk the corridors searching for her lover.

Ghoulish Tours at Longleat

Longleat’s Emma Finlay said: “Visitors will find out more about those who have made themselves known from doors which slam when no-one is near, to the voice of a young girl heard as we close the house as well as random lavender aromas; it’s definitely a tour for all the senses.”

Scott Ashman, Head of Operations at Longleat, said: “We are delighted to be bringing back Ghost Tours to Longleat House following feedback from guests.

“These tours won’t be for the faint hearted, with plenty of scares along the way. Guests should keep this in mind when booking, that these are scary but entertaining tours.”

The tours will take place four times a day for a nine-day period, between 25 October – 2 November, for October Half Term.

The tours are unsuitable for under 11s or those with limited mobility.

Ghost tours cost £9.95 per person and can be booked as an add on during the booking process on longleat.co.uk.
