Bristol has unveiled a spectacular new mural on Park Street, adding a must-see attraction to the city’s world-renowned street art scene.
Created by celebrated Bristol artists Jody Thomas and Andy Council, the mural reimagines Thomas’s much-loved Florist design, which was once situated on Park Street before being covered during redevelopment. Commissioned by Bristol-based property company Urban Creation, the new piece blends heritage with fresh creativity, ensuring Park Street remains a key stop for visitors exploring the city’s cultural landscape.
A striking new stop for visitors
The mural combines two unique artistic voices:
- Jody Thomas has recreated the original image of a woman’s hands holding a bouquet of flowers.
- Andy Council has transformed the flowers into a vibrant tapestry of Park Street’s architecture and surrounding landmarks, weaving Bristol’s urban character into the design.
Positioned directly opposite the site of the original mural, the work offers visitors a powerful mix of memory and discovery — celebrating Bristol’s artistic heritage while giving tourists something new to enjoy.
Part of Bristol’s global reputation
From Banksy to Upfest, Bristol has long been considered the UK’s street art capital. This new Park Street mural adds another landmark for walking tours, Instagram backdrops, and cultural itineraries.
Jody Thomas on revisiting his original design:
“It was wonderful to revisit the much beloved mural- this time bigger and better. I jumped at the chance to work with my good friend Andy, adding his unique style to give a fantastic new twist to the wall, and making it twice the size this time!”.
Andy Council on weaving the local architecture into the mural:
“Coming up with my section of the design was a challenge for me - I’m used to working with animal shapes to fit architectural landmarks into, fauna rather than flora. The delicate petal and leaf shapes required me to bend and fit the buildings of the Park Street area in ways which I found very complicated. I wanted it to look as similar to Jody’s original painting as possible but also my style and importantly like the Park Street area of Bristol.”
Jonathan Brecknell, Director of Urban Creation on giving back to Bristol:
“When the original ‘Florist’ mural was covered during our redevelopment, we quickly realised just how much it meant to people in Bristol. It wasn’t just a painting on a wall — it was a part of the city’s identity. That response made it clear to us that we had a responsibility to give something back. By commissioning Jody to revisit his much-loved design and inviting Andy to bring his unique vision of Park Street into the piece, we’ve been able to celebrate Bristol’s creative spirit in a new way. As a company rooted in this city, we’re committed to supporting the communities and culture that make Bristol such a special place.”
