Theatre Royal Bath has released a brand-new brochure with details of productions confirmed to appear in the Main House, Ustinov Studio and The Egg in spring 2026, plus casting updates for the programme over the next six months.
With details of more than 50 shows and events, the brochure features 7 newly announced productions in the Main House, including Murder at Midnight starring Jason Durr, Susie Blake and Katie McGlynn, The Beekeeper of Aleppo, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Six, Single White Female starring Kym Marsh, Fawlty Towers starring Danny Bayne, Paul Nicholas and Joanne Clifton, and Blackbird, directed by Matthew Dunster, in the Ustinov Studio. Newly announced shows are on sale to members from Thursday 21 August with general booking open from Thursday 28 August. Murder at Midnight is a murder mystery like no other, starring national favourites Jason Durr (Heartbeat, Casualty), Susie Blake (Victoria Wood’s As Seen On TV, Coronation Street) and Katie McGlynn (Waterloo Road, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks). Written by acclaimed playwright Torben Betts and produced by the award-winning Original Theatre (Birdsong, Murder in the Dark, The Mirror Crack’d), Murder at Midnight appears at the Theatre Royal Bath from Monday 16 to Saturday 21 March. UK Productions in association with Nottingham Playhouse presents The Beekeeper of Aleppo, touring to Bath from Tuesday 31 March to Saturday 4 April. Christy Lefteri’s best-selling novel is adapted by Nesrin Alrefaai, and Matthew Spangler who adapted The Kite Runner. The production had its world premiere at Nottingham Playhouse in early 2023 and went on to tour the UK, receiving rave reviews wherever it played.
From Tuesday 7 to Saturday 11 April, Bath’s award-winning amateur company Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society return to the stage at the Theatre Royal with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, one of the most enduring musicals of all time. The show is full of unforgettable classics including Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door, with music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society is one of the region’s most acclaimed amateur companies, and has been performing in Bath since 1894.
The crowning glory of Broadway, the West End and beyond, the international smash hit musical Six makes its royal return to Bath from Tuesday 14 to Saturday 25 April, following its previous sell out success. Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss and winner of over 35 international awards, this sellout Tudor take-off is “pure entertainment” (New York Times). From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power.
Kym Marsh (Coronation Street, Waterloo Road and Abigail’s Party), stars in the world premiere production of Single White Female, the gripping new stage thriller inspired by the best-selling book and hit 90’s movie. Full of dark humour and stiletto-sharp suspense this brand-new adaptation, which tours to Bath from Tuesday 19 to Saturday 23 May, updates the original story to the age of social media, in a gripping tale of ambition, obsession, and the desperate need for belonging in an isolated world. Fifty years since it first graced our TV screens, the “Greatest British Sitcom of All Time” (Radio Times) is back – this time on stage. Fresh from a sold-out West End season, Fawlty Towers is a laugh-out-loud production adapted for the stage by John Cleese and appears at the Theatre Royal from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 July. Danny Bayne as Basil, Paul Nicholas as the Major and Joanne Clifton as Polly lead an 18-strong cast as they bring to life all the sharp wit, chaos and calamity of the show’s unforgettable twelve episodes.
In the Ustinov Studio, Theatre Royal Bath Productions will present a new production of David Harrower’s provocative play Blackbird from Thursday 2 April to Saturday 2 May. Having premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2005 the play transferred to London’s West End, where it won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play. Matthew Dunster returns to the Ustinov Studio following the sell-out success of Hedda, starring Lily Allen.
Casting announcements include news that Emma, appearing at the Theatre Royal from Thursday 11 to Saturday 20 September before UK tour, will include rising star India Shaw-Smith - soon to be seen on TV in Spartacus: House of Ashur - as Austen’s heroine Emma Woodhouse, with Oscar Batterham as Philip Elton, William Chubb as Mr Woodhouse, Jade Kennedy as Jane Fairfax, Peter Losasso as Frank Churchill, Rose Quentin as Augusta Hawkins, Daniel Rainford as Robert Martin, Ed Sayer as George Knightley and Maiya Louise Thapar as Harriet Smith. The 250th anniversary of Bath’s favourite writer is celebrated in fitting style with a new stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s comedy of manners. The historic Theatre Royal Bath is the perfect setting to launch this new tour as the Georgian splendour of the city encapsulates the backdrop for many of Austen’s stories.
Stage and screen star Rosalind Eleazar (Slow Horses) and Olivier Award nominee Rachel Tucker (Wicked) join the previously announced Ralph Fiennes and Francesca Annis in the world premiere of Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Small Hotel, the final play in this year’s Ralph Fiennes / Theatre Royal Bath Season, which appears from Friday 3 to Saturday 18 October. Mark Hadfield (Belfast; Outlander; Wallander) is set to star as Hercule Poirot in a brand-new adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic Death on the Nile, which tours to Bath from Tuesday 21 to Saturday 25 October. Joining Mark on stage will be Glynis Barber (Dempsey and Makepeace; EastEnders) and Bob Barrett (Murder on the Orient Express; Holby City). Following the sell-out tour of Murder on the Orient Express, this thrilling production reunites writer Ken Ludwig, director Lucy Bailey (Witness for the Prosecution) and Fiery Angel.
Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin’s riveting, award-winning stage adaptation of the seminal American novel, by Harper Lee, comes to Bath from Tuesday 11 to Saturday 22 November. This thrilling courtroom drama from Jonathan Church Theatre Productions stars acclaimed stage and screen actor Richard Coyle (The Player Kings, Macbeth, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore), who returns to this iconic production as Atticus Finch, reprising the role he played to great critical acclaim in the 2022 West End production.

Casting has also been revealed for the Built by Barn musical The Last Five Years, which appears at the Ustinov Studio from Tuesday 25 November to Saturday 3 January. Martha Kirby (Club NVRLND, Evita) and Guy Woolf (The Cher Show, As You Like It) will star as Cathy and Jamie in Jason Robert Brown’s Tony Award winning musical, co-produced by Barn Theatre, Reading Rep Theatre and Theatre Royal Bath Productions.
Joe McFadden (2:22 A Ghost Story, The Rocky Horror Show) will star as Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption, touring to Bath from Monday 2 to Saturday 7 February. Ben Onwukwe (RSC) returns to the role of Ellis ‘Red’ Redding and Bill Ward (Coronation Street) stars as Warden Stammas.
Dame Harriet Walter and the female cast of As You Like It will perform speeches from her own book in the recently announced All The World’s A Stage. On Friday 5 September the actors will perform speeches from She Speaks! What Shakespeare’s Women Might Have Said, a selection of speeches for Shakespeare’s famous female characters. Written by Harriet Walter mostly in verse, these passages offer alternative insights and female perspectives into some of the most famous female characters in literature and will be followed by a Q&A with members of the cast.

Christmas Lunch at The Dukes Hotel on Tuesday 16 December and What The Dickens! On Friday 19 December.
