Caroline, who has lived in and near Bath for more than 20 years, joined Bath Festivals earlier this year as Head of Fundraising. Her appointment by Bath Festivals’ Board of Trustees begins a new chapter for the arts charity seeking to ‘embrace a younger and wider audience’ as Bath Festivals heads towards its 80 th year of promoting live arts events in the city.

Caroline has a successful track record in management consultancy, including time as group director for Reed Exhibitions and managing director at IIR Exhibitions. During her years in Bath she worked on the re-ordering of the interior of St Michael’s Without Church in Bath, initially launching the events programme and cafe, then becoming the church administrator. She also runs a luxury self-catering business in the countryside near Bath.

As a mother of three, Caroline has enjoyed attending festival events with her family over the years, commenting:

“I don’t think we’ve ever missed attending the Party in the City or the festivals themselves. Kipper and Mike Inkpen being one of the first we attended as part of Bath Children’s Literature Festival, through to hearing Laura Bates speaking about the frightening world of AI and sexism at May’s Bath Literature Festival. Concerts at Bath Abbey and St Swithin’s Church have been a joy to attend, with the widest range of classical music and musicians. Being transported by the music is both a magical and educational experience.”

Since joining the team earlier this year, Caroline has brokered a new partnership for Bath Children’s Literature Festival with Longleat, the stately home and safari park, a popular destination with families.

Looking forward to this autumn's Bath Children's Literature Festival, which opens on 26 September 2025, Caroline said: "I am excited and privileged to put my efforts into supporting the festivals and importantly our charitable and social outreach aims.  We are launching our Share the Story campaign for 2025, providing free books and the written word to children who many not always be able to access it. Soon, Bath Festivals hopes to look at how we can support music education for school children and young people too.  I am excited and ready to rise to these challenges!"

Bath Festivals, an arts charity, has been putting on arts events in the city since 1948. It attracts music and book lovers from all over the country. It is indebted to its patrons and friends and to the army of volunteers who steward events.
