Much-loved city-centre music venue St George’s Bristol are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with promoter Nathan Worm to present contemporary Nu-Jazz concerts. Taking place in the modern yet atmospheric Café Bar space at St George’s, these standing admission events mark an important collaborative moment and are illustrative of St George’s place at the heart of the vibrant Bristol music scene.

St George’s Bristol and Nathan Worm look forward to getting this exciting partnership underway on Friday 11 July with an exhilarating evening of cosmic grooves and freedom energy exchange. At this special event, Àbáse (AKA Szabolcs Bognár) and Ziggy Zeitgiest will present music from their individual projects as well as their new electronic duo endeavour ‘Acid Zone’, exploring club music within leading space for contemporary music, St George’s Café Bar.

Over recent years Nathan has grown to be one of Bristol’s highly regarded promoters of gigs, concerts and club events, as well as a being an active DJ (selector) and radio presenter. Aligning with St George’s core ethos, bringing ideas to life, getting people dancing and presenting world class musicianship are Nathan’s mission objectives. Nathan is co-founder of Worm Disco Club who, during a 10+ year tenure, have hosted over 150 incredible bands and DJs as well as stages at Glastonbury, We Out Here and Shambala. Worm Disco Club also started ‘Worm Discs’ in 2020; the record label has released Bristol bands such as Snazzback, Run Logan Run & Waldo’s Gift as well as the amazing TC & The Groove Family. Just a small selection of incredible acts Nathan has been responsible for bringing to Bristol include The Comet Is Coming, Shabaka Hutchings, Colin Stetson, WITCH, Emma-Jean Thackray, Derya-Yildrim & Grup Simsek, Corto.alto, Fred Wesley & The New J.Bs, Surprise Chef, Fergus McCreadie, Meridian Brothers and (upcoming artist at St George’s Bristol) Joe-Armon Jones.

On the partnership, Nathan said, ‘'I recognise St George’s as venue driven by a real passion and love for music and a place where world class musicians love to perform. I am always on the lookout for great acts I can present, and this new relationship and chance to collaborate with St George’s is an exciting prospect!

About the gig Nathan says '' Abase and Ziggy Zietgeist are two amazing Berlin based artists who tick lots of boxes for me, from their skills to their variation of styles that combine funk, jazz, global influences and broken or programmed beats, live rhythmic drums, keys and samples. They play St George’s the day after a headline Jazz Cafe show. It should be a real good vibe for a Friday Summer eve.

On the partnership, Ben Spencer, Head of Programme at St George’s says “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Nathan Worm on this project. It’s an exciting evolution for St George’s: to explore the broader territories of new contemporary jazz in a more informal, ‘standing’ context. We’ve always loved those artists who are treading their own path, inventing new soundworlds; with Nathan’s curatorial skillset we look forward to bringing more of them to St George’s.”
