Lily Allen is an Award-winning singer, songwriter, author, and actor. Star of stage, screen and music, she has established herself as one of our most popular performers. Her West End appearance in the stage phenomenon 2:22 A Ghost Story earned her the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Actress and an Olivier Award nomination.
She also starred in Martin McDonagh’s highly-acclaimed play The Pillowman, alongside Steve Pemberton at the Duke of York’s Theatre in the West End. On screen, she has portrayed the iconic Elizabeth Taylor in How To Build A Girl and starred in Sharon Horgan’s comedy-drama Dreamland for Sky Max. Tom Austen playing the role of Jasper, has performed both on stage and screen. Appearing in the West End in Onassis at the Novello Theatre and The Real Thing at The Old Vic. On screen, Tom appeared in the European HBO series Rematch and was seen in the Canal+ and Sky limited series Django. Tom also starred in the Marvel series Helstrom with other on screen credits including The Royals, The Borgias, Unforgotten, Grantchester and Beaver Falls.
The role of Taya is played by actress and presenter Julia Chan whose theatre credits include Drama Desk Award-winning Danger and Opportunity, Marin Ireland’s Pre-existing Condition and performing the role of Lauren in the original cast of 2:22 A Ghost Story, directed by Matthew Dunster in the West End. Julia Chan’s screen credits include Ripple (Lionsgate TV), Katy Keene (the CW), Before (Apple) and Brilliant Minds (NBC).
Ciarán Owens playing the role of George can be seen in new Paramount+ series Curfew and recently appeared in critically acclaimed new play Red Speedo, directed by Matthew Dunster.
Ciarán starred as Matt in the worldwide premiere of The Interview at the Park Theatre and played the lead role of Pierre in the UK premiere of Farewell Mister Haffmann, directed by Lindsay Posner, also at the Ustinov Studio. His recent television and film credits include Peaky Blinders, Ancient Empires, Temple, Small Axe, Krypton, Crazyhead, Red Joan and Billion Dollar Spy.
Performing the role of Julia is Imogen Stubbs, whose stellar career has seen her take on leading roles at the RSC, Royal National Theatre, The Old Vic, The Donmar Warehouse and numerous West End productions. Roles include Desdemona in Othello, Viola in Twelfth Night, St Joan in St Joan, Yelena in Uncle Vanya, Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire, and Gertrude in Hamlet, amongst others. Most recently Imogen played Bev/Cathy in Clybourne Park at the Park Theatre, for which she received rave reviews. On screen, her starring film roles include Viola in Twelfth Night, Sarah in Jack & Sarah, Lucy in Sense & Sensibility, Megan in A Summer Story, Insomniacs and Stake Out. Most recently she featured in series 6 of Netflix’s hugely successful The Crown, opposite Lesley Manville.
Olivier Award-winning actor Brendan Coyle - playing the role of Brack - has many credits to his name. His theatre work includes Dealer's Choice (Donmar Warehouse) and The Weir (Abbey Theatre Dublin), for which he won an Olivier Award and New York Critics award. His appearances in film include Mary Queen Of Scots, Downton Abbey, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Last Bus Home and Aisla. Brendan Coyle’s many television credits include Toxic Town, Finders Keepers, Riches, Requiem, Lark Rise to Candleford, The Starlings, and Downton Abbey for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTA Awards.
The cast also includes Najla Ferreira Kay as Danni with roles being understudied by Donnla Hughes, Tom Joyner, Mark Kitto and Alice Selwyn.
The creative team for Hedda is led by sought-after director and writer Matthew Dunster. A former Associate Director of Shakespeare’s Globe and the Young Vic, he has been nominated for four Olivier Awards, and his Broadway production of Hangmen was nominated for five Tony Awards. His West End productions include Hangmen, True West, Shirley Valentine and The Pillowman. His production of 2:22 A Ghost Story, where he began his working relationship with Lily Allen, broke records in the West End and went on to achieve international acclaim. At the end of this year, he will direct Conor McPherson’s highly anticipated stage adaptation of The Hunger Games.
The creative team includes set and costume design by Anna Fleischle, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound design by Ian Dickinson for Autograph, associate director is Izzy Parriss and casting director is Heather Basten CDG.
