This August, the dark, echoing tunnels beneath Bristol Temple Meads will come alive with light, sound and steam as The Invisible Circus and The Loco Klub unveil Wunderground 200, a brand-new immersive family show exploring two centuries of train travel through theatre, multimedia and interactive storytelling.

Running on selected dates from 4 - 31 August, Wunderground 200 invites audiences to wander through time on a unique underground adventure, meeting historical figures, experiencing the dawn of the steam age and glimpsing the future of sustainable transport, all set within the striking architecture of the Grade I listed Brunel tunnels.

The experience is designed for children aged 5 to 10, although older and younger siblings are welcome and adults are sure to be captivated too. Each visit through the tunnels lasts 90 minutes and includes a 60-minute guided performance, taking visitors on an immersive journey that is equal parts performance and play.

Doug Francisco, Creative Director of The Invisible Circus, said: “Wunderground 200 is about time travel, yes, but it’s also about imagination, innovation and identity. The railways shaped Britain’s past, and they’ll shape our future. This show is an invitation to celebrate where we’ve been and dream about where we’re going, all from right here in one of Bristol’s most extraordinary underground spaces.”

The show takes place at The Loco Klub, a boundary-pushing gig and performance space hidden within the restored railway arches of Temple Meads. With The Invisible Circus’s roots in radical street performance and site-specific theatre, and The Loco Klub’s reputation as one of the city’s most atmospheric cultural venues, Wunderground 200 offers an unforgettable summer experience for families, curious minds and adventurous souls alike.

Tickets are £14 for adults and £12 for children, and are available now at https://www.locoklub.com/wunderground-200/ . Relaxed performances with adjusted lighting and sound will be available on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and the venue is fully accessible with step-free access, accessible toilets and reservable parking for those with access needs.
