Fresh from scooping two BAFTA awards for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, the eagerly awaited Gromit Unleashed 3 trail has arrived in Bristol - the proud home of Aardman. This summer, over 50 beautifully designed and decorated sculptures are on display across the city, ready for visitors and locals to discover. The trail is organised by The Grand Appeal, raising vital funds for Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital.

To help you make the most of it, here’s Visit Bristol’s guide to 10 ways to enjoy a Grand Day (or weekend… or week!) Out this summer.

1. Go on the Gromit Unleashed 3 trail – FREE TRAIL on now until 31 August

As if the streets of Bristol weren’t colourful enough already, the much-loved Gromit Unleashed 3 trail is back in Bristol this summer, with 53 stunning sculptures of Wallace, Gromit, Feather’s McGraw and a new character, Norbot, the new ‘smart gnome’ from the latest Aardman film, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (available now to stream on Netflix globally). This year’s trail has a dazzling movie magic theme, celebrating the world of storytelling and film - download the app (proceeds go to The Grand Appeal) and tick off the sculptures you spot. There are mini trails, a map and an online shop to buy Gromit Unleashed 3 merchandise, too. The trail itself is free to do, and on now until 31 August.

2. Make your own Gromit Unleashed 3 stencil spray art

As many people know, Bristol is synonymous with Banksy – the elusive and anonymous street artist whose subversive murals adorn the city’s streets. So, for a perfect pit-stop on your Gromit Unleashed 3 trail, get your ‘hands on the cans’ and create your very own stencil spray art of Gromit or Feathers McGraw at Bristol Folk House, hosted by Graft on 6 August. All materials are provided for these 30-minute workshops, with all profits going to The Grand Appeal too, and you get to take your artwork home as the ultimate souvenir!

3. Support The Grand Appeal by booking a hotel with a Gromit Unleashed 3 special offer

A selection of hotels in Bristol are offering guests Gromit Unleashed 3 special offers this summer, with donations given to support The Grand Appeal. Clayton Hotel Bristol is offering breakfast, a 2-course dinner, kids’ Gromit gift, and a £5 nightly donation to support Bristol Children’s Hospital. The Moxy Bristol Gromit Unleashed 3 package deal includes bed & breakfast, Gromit-themed cocktail, trail map, and £10 donation per package to The Grand Appeal charity. For self-catering options (often a winner when visiting as a family or a group), Beech House, Redmayne House and Alison Court serviced apartments are donating 10% of revenue from website bookings during Gromit Unleashed 3 to The Grand Appeal charity.

4. Try Wallace and Gromit: A Grand Way Out Locked in a Room

Locked in a Room is the largest escape room experience in the south west and, in partnership with Aardman, there are three Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Way Out escape rooms to try on Millenium Square on Bristol’s bustling Harbourside. A perfect way to immerse yourself even more in the Gromit theme, and get the brain thinking as creatively and inventively as Wallace’s! Aardman animation studio is located on the opposite side of the Harbourside – even though it’s not open to visitors, there is sometimes a model of Morph lurking in a window to see from the outside, plus the Woolly Capers sculpture from Gromit Unleashed 3 trail is also located outside Aardman animations.

The much-loved experiential and hands on science centre has an exclusive Aardman exhibition animation space, also on Bristol’s harbourside just a few steps away from Locked in a Room.
