easyJet, Bristol’s largest airline, has welcomed an additional Airbus A320neo to its Bristol Airport base, supporting around 400 direct and indirect jobs and £27 million UK gross value added (GVA)*.
This is easyJet’s 19th aircraft based at Bristol Airport and demonstrates the continuing strong demand from customers in the southwest and will enable the airline to offer even greater connections to Europe and beyond.
The Airbus A320neo is up to 50% quieter and uses 20% less fuel than the generation of aircraft it replaces as easyJet continues to modernise its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft.
easyJet now offers 83 routes from Bristol to destinations spanning Europe and North Africa and this week, the airline is launching two new routes from Bristol to Almeria in Spain’s Andalusia region and Palermo, capital of the Italian island of Sicily.
Flights to Almeria start on 24 June and will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays with Palermo starting 26 June and operating twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays.
Last week easyJet announced new routes for winter will go on sale from Bristol to Munich, Vienna, Zurich and Verona.
easyJet is operating its biggest ever summer and biggest ever UK flying programme this year, with seven additional Airbus A320 family aircraft joining its UK-based fleet. This means there will be more than 33 million seats operating to and from the UK this summer, half a million more than last year and 44 new routes including 3 new destinations will take off from the UK this summer.
easyJet is the largest leisure airline in the UK, responsible for a third of all UK leisure travel growth this summer.
