The Queensberry Hotel’s Oliver Harris announced as one of ten ‘Young Trailblazers’ at prestigious gathering of senior hoteliers in London.

Oliver Harris earned the accolade at The Boutique Hotelier’s Great GM – General Manager – Debate, held at Park Hyatt London River Thames on the 9th of June.

Over 100 key decision-makers from luxury hotels across the UK gathered to engage in a series of panel sessions on the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the industry. Then, once the discussions and panels finished, the event closed with the much-anticipated reveal of the 2025 Boutique Hotelier Power List, in association with Silentnight, followed by drinks and canapés and the chance to celebrate the list’s industry-leaders.

The Power List’s ‘Young Trailblazers’ is a category intended to shine a spotlight on the next generation of hospitality talent, recognising those working their way up and showing real leadership potential.

Having graduated from The Edge Hotel School in 2016, Oliver started out under Danny Pecorelli’s Exclusive Collection at South Lodge Hotel as a Graduate Manager, before he became Food and Beverage Manager at Fanhams Hall Hotel, Hertfordshire, (also part of Exclusive Collection). He further honed his leadership skills at Whatley Manor Hotel in the Cotswolds under Sue Williams, and Tortworth Court Hotel under Raphael Herzog, notably all Master Innholders who share their passion for developing leaders. Despite managing 201 rooms there, Oliver’s passion for a more bespoke, boutique environment took him to The Queensberry, where clearly his experience, expertise and dynamism are already bearing fruit and turning heads.

Co-owner of The Queensberry Hotel and The Olive Tree, Laurence Beere, added: “Everyone’s absolutely delighted for Oliver. We knew when we brought him here last year that we were getting an outstanding manager, as well as a pretty special individual, and everything that’s happened since then has gone to show us how right, and how lucky, we were.”

Oliver said: “Honestly, I’m still a little giddy about this! I’m thrilled to be seen as a Young Trailblazer and it means so very much to me. My job now at The Queensberry Hotel & Olive Tree Restaurant has changed the dynamic of my career in an extremely positive way.

Even though the challenges in our industry are real, with such fast-changing legislation, trends and demands that are impacting so many, the main part of my role as a senior leader remains the same: to ensure a faultless guest experience every day, all year round! And when I say guests, I mean not only those that come and stay with us, but also the amazing team that service the hotel alongside me. We all know that they are just as important!”

The Queensberry Hotel, along with the acclaimed Michelin Star restaurant, The Olive Tree, are owned by Laurence and Helen Beere, who have a combined 50 years’ hotel-industry experience. The hotel – originally home of the 8th Marquess of Queensberry – encompasses four fabulous Georgian terraced buildings close to the centre of Bath. Each of its 29 bedrooms is individually, uniquely designed, and both the hotel and restaurant are proud to capture – and embody – the bold and independent spirit of Bath.
