Local charity SWEDA are bringing together some of the UK’s biggest comedians for one special night at Bristol Hippodrome, raising awareness and vital funds for people affected by eating disorders.

Taskmaster stars Nish Kumar, James Acaster, Jenny Eclair and Bristol’s own Jayde Adams will be performing as part of a fundraising extravaganza on Monday 29 September, alongside Live At The Apollo’s Stuart Goldsmith and Amy Annette.

With services in Bristol and across the South West, SWEDA has supported people affected by eating disorders since 1992. Whether people are battling an illness themselves or supporting someone struggling, SWEDA are there to help, reaching people before they need medical treatment.

Fundraising Manager Gavin Osborn explains why a comedy night will make a difference to the charity: “We are thrilled to have such a fantastic line-up for a night at the Hippodrome, as we’re determined to make people more aware of what SWEDA do and how they can help. The fact that such household names are giving their time and talent to support us is genuinely amazing. We’re seeing rising numbers of people who need us and proceeds from the show will make a huge difference to growing our services in Bristol and across the region”.

SWEDA’s services support people with Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder and more, including therapeutic counselling, one-to-one support, a 12-week recovery project, nutritional guidance and a Children & Young People service.

James Acaster’s last UK tour sold out in 5 minutes, and with Nish Kumar and Jenny Eclair (also from Taskmaster) and Strictly Come Dancing star Jayde Adams on the bill, SWEDA are hopeful this will prove just as popular.
