Step back in time and join us for an unforgettable weekend at Berkeley Castle as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. On Sunday 4th and Monday 5th May, we invite visitors of all ages to experience the sights, sounds, and spirit of the 1940s with a vibrant programme of entertainment and activities.
Enjoy live performances from members of the sensational D-Day Darlings, stars of Britain’s Got Talent, who will transport you to a bygone era with their uplifting wartime songs. Throughout the day, guests will also encounter an incredible Winston Churchill impersonator roaming the Castle grounds, bringing Britain’s most iconic leader to life.

History lovers can explore a host of fascinating experiences, including a WW2 Field Kitchen, offering authentic cookery demonstrations from the era, and engaging WW2 re-enactors who will bring life on the front line vividly to life. Meanwhile, the Women’s Home Front Displays will give an eye-opening insight into what daily life was like for women back at home during the war years.
A special exhibition will also be on display, revealing how Berkeley Castle itself played a role in the national war effort — a unique glimpse into the Castle’s own wartime story.
Visitors are warmly encouraged to dress up in 1940s-style outfits and bring a picnic to enjoy with family and friends as we celebrate, remember, and honour this historic milestone together.
