Bristol’s seven twinnings have a new public artwork which serves as a visible reminder of the streetscapes of its partner cities.

It was decided some years ago that the twinnings should be celebrated with a signpost on College Green (as a sister installation to the one at Bristol’s Mansion House) in front of City Hall, where the flags of the seven countries can also be seen flying.

A celebration ceremony took place on Thursday 25 April in the presence of the Lord Mayor, who is President of all the twinnings, Mayor Marvin Rees, members of the Bristol International Twinnings Association (BITA), and the Guild of Guardians, who funded the signpost’s design and creation.

Bristol’s International Strategy Board and Bristol International Ambassadors will also be represented. The Secretary of BITA, Ann Kennard, and the artist who designed the artwork, Steve Joyce, were interviewed on BBC Radio Bristol on Friday 19 April at 3:30pm - you can listen here
