Bristol’s biggest science centre and educational charity, We The Curious, is celebrating its long-awaited reopening on 2 July 2024 by revealing 73 Ways to Get Curious, one for each day in the run up to the reopening celebration on 6 July.

From exploring nature and getting creative to seeing where your imagination guides you and taking notice of things you might normally not, the 73-strong list – created by the inquisitive minds at We The Curious itself – is designed to bring a little curiosity into people’s lives each day.

These accessible activities, big and small, can be done alone or with friends and family, and just like We The Curious, the list provides a space where people of all ages and backgrounds can share experiences to awaken their curiosity.

Bryony Roberts, Content Director, We The Curious said: “As we get closer to re-opening, we want Bristol and beyond to feel empowered to question the everyday things around them and see the world through a curious lens. Everyone should have a voice in shaping our collective futures which is something we feel very passionate about at We The Curious.

You may be thinking, “why 73?”, why not?! As we started to pull them all together, we realised it didn’t need to be a neat round number, that’s not really very We The Curious. Also, mathematically speaking, it’s a very special number because it has properties that other numbers don’t have, which we think is pretty cool too. Just ask Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory…

Whether you do one thing on the list or all 73 is up to you; we simply hope you’ll love the feeling getting curious brings you”.

To get started, have a go at three of the tasks below! Head to wethecurious.org/73-ways-to-get-curious  to check out the full list, or follow along on social media where activities will be revealed each week.

  1. Try paper Chromatography at home and see all the different inks that make up your felt tip pens
  2. Play “will it float?”. Fill a large, tall, clear container with water than guess which objects around the house will float or sink.
  3. Put on a performance or show!

Share pictures of you trying the activities at home and tag We The Curious on social media along with the hashtag #73Ways so We The Curious can re-share!
