Mendip Activity Centre has opened brand new archery and air rifle ranges at their multi-activity site in Churchill, North Somerset.

After receiving planning permission in January 2023, the new ranges were designed and built by the team at Mendip with the help of local contractors. The target sport ranges are fully covered to protect participants from the rain and sun and are designed to be fully accessible for those with physical disabilities such as wheelchair users.

The ranges were part-funded by North Somerset Council's Rural Prosperity Fund. David Eddins, Managing Director at Mendip Activity Centre, said: "We are delighted to have received a Rural England Prosperity Fund grant from North Somerset Council to allow us to build four new target sport ranges at Mendip Activity Centre. These purpose built, covered ranges are fully accessible and enable individuals with additional physical and learning needs to try archery or air rifle shooting. It also means locals and visitors can come and try archery or air rifle shooting under cover for the first time."

The ranges will be used by school groups on outdoor activity residentials this summer. Archery and air rifle is also available to members of the public along with 20 other activities. During the Easter holidays, participants can win their score in mini eggs! Book at www.mendip.me/book
