After a hugely successful inaugural event last year, The Bristol Improv Theatre are delighted to announce the return of The Little Improv Festival for 2024!

The festival will take place at The Bristol Improv Theatre in Clifton on Friday 22 March for the festival launch, followed by an all day festival on 23 March.

UK renowned improvisers Susan Harrison and Justin Brett (both long standing members of West End and Edinburgh Fringe’s sell-out ‘Showstopper! The Improvised Musical)’ will open the festival on Friday 22nd March. During the daytime, they’ll both deliver insightful and inspiring workshops for budding improvisers who are hungry to learn from experienced performers.

The workshops will be followed by an evening performance of Susan and Justin’s beautiful improvised folk musical, ‘These Folk’, accompanied by live guitar and percussion. Everything is made up on the spot; the characters, folklore, story, lyrics, harmonies and music.

“These Folk is really funny right off the bat… a perfect blend of selfawareness, with a commitment to the story and its characters- no matter how silly”.

“These Folk is that rare combo of beautiful and funny. I laughed, I cried, and I walked away completely inspired”. (Kevin John Gillese, former AD Dad’s Garage, USA)

On Saturday 23 March, the Bristol Improv Theatre will be a hive of activity with shows, classes and improv jams happening throughout the day. The bar stage will be packed with talented performances from local improvisers, intersected with improv jams where everyone is welcome to have a go on stage. Meanwhile the theatre and upstairs drawing room will be hosting a wide variety of improv workshops. There’s something for everyone, covering topics from bringing improv to work, to musical improv to beginner’s improv taster sessions.

One of the Bristol Improv Theatre’s most popular flagship shows, Up the Antics, will bring the festival to a close on the evening of Saturday 23rd March. Their hit comedy variety extravaganza, The Antics Joke Show, will welcome London supHer group, Hell Yeah! A femxle-centred cast of powerhouse award-winning, rave reviewed queer performers who in their own right sell out shows, push the arts forward and are seen/heard on the BBC, Channel 4, Netflix, Amazon Prime, The Comedy Store and Hoopla Impro to name a few.
