Hundreds of colleagues from the visitor economy in Bristol, Bath and Somerset gathered at The Bristol hotel on 30 November to find out who had won the top prizes in the coveted awards.

Attendees were welcomed by Kathryn Davis, Managing Director of Visit West, along with Larry Bush from Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, and Nell Barrington, one of the organisers of the awards. After a delicious three-course dinner the awards ceremony took place, hosted by ITV News West Country's Ben McGrail.

Ben said “It was a real honour to be part of such a celebration of the amazing tourism industry in Bristol, Bath and Somerset. We have so much to offer across the region and the night really showed off just how hard people work to make that possible. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!”

One of the extra-special awards was the Outstanding Contribution to Tourism category, which was won this year by the Bristol Temple Meads Welcome Team. This team of volunteers were formed after the London 2012 Olympics and are still going strong, answering questions from visitors as they arrive at Bristol's city centre station. Beth and John, who are part of the team, were at the ceremony to receive the award on behalf of the whole team. As is the case with such awards, they had no idea they had won until it was announced on the night.
