While Halloween usually conjures up images of wicked witches, ghoulish ghosts and creepy crawlies, popular Cotswold attraction Sudeley Castle and Gardens is set to transform into a realm of magic, history and exploration for families this October half term, thanks to the arrival of Halloweek at the enchanting historic venue.
Coinciding perfectly with Halloween, Sudeley Castle and Gardens has curated a spellbinding Halloweek programme that will see the former royal residence and its award-winning gardens celebrate the theme of magic in various forms , from creating mystical remedies and potions in Silly Science workshops, to wand and herbal bath bag making sessions for the whole family, from October 28 to November 5.
To add a historical twist, John Dee, the astrologer and advisor to Queen Elizabeth I, will be roaming the castle grounds, engaging visitors mesmerizing magic tricks. On selected dates visitors will also be able to meet the Wise Woman, from Past Times Living History, as she shares her knowledge of plants and reveals a few gruesome remedies from the past, bringing history to life along the way.
Visitors this Halloween will also find that a spell has been cast over the popular new Animal Ark zone, and its inhabitants find themselves surrounded by cobwebs and pumpkins! Dare to be brave and venture in to meet the life-size bat, lizards leopards, polar bears and lion sculptures inside.
Families will be brought together and memories evoked and made, as parents, grandparents and siblings wander through the Animal Ark with over 50 life-sized sculptures, visiting many continents on the way and with some great photo opportunities too.

Enjoy our stunning castle and the rich history, from the Dutch painted glass and iconic Elizabethan paintings, to rare treasures, tapestries and stunning sculptures.
“New for October Half Term, we have daily family activities with Silly Science Workshops, nature based Mud Kitchen sessions and Herbal Remedy making demonstrations. Our newly launched 360-degree immersive Virtual Reality Experience will also be open throughout the school holidays.”
Halloweek at Sudeley Castle is included in the general admission price and families can book in advance online, with free admission to children under three.
