Over three years since Pata Negra closed its doors on Corn Street, the Spanish tapas restaurant is popping back up at sister venue Bambalan for a six week kitchen takeover from Friday 13th October until Friday 24th November 2023.

Opened in 2015, when tapas was at the height of its popularity, Pata Negra brought a slice of Spain to Bristol. The fourth opening from bar and restaurant group The Hyde & Co, Pata Negra was the go-to place for authentic Spanish tapas and pintxos in the city centre. After the pandemic, the group decided it was time for a change and Four Wise Monkeys was born, converting the tapas restaurant into a successful pan-Asian super diner.

For six weeks in October and November Pata Negra will be making a comeback in the Bambalan kitchen, serving up tapas, set menus and bocadillos alongside Spanish wines, sherry and cocktails. Group executive chef Todd Francis has filled the menu with cult favourites including sobrasada with a crispy soft boiled egg, manchego and honey, jamón ibérico croquetas and patatas bravas with aioli picante, as well as plenty of delicious new dishes, including a tapas sharing feast for £30pp.

In addition to the pop-up kitchen, the Hyde & Co Group will be celebrating the return of Pata Negra with some special ticketed events on Thursday 2nd November and Thursday 16th November, which will be released soon.

Speaking on the return of Pata Negra, founder Nathan Lee said:

“We know a lot of people were sad to say goodbye to Pata Negra when it closed, so to be able to bring it back and share it with everyone again is really special. We’ve got all the Pata classics on the menu as well as lots of new dishes and I’m particularly looking forward to our jamon and sherry evening so I can forget I’m in cold old England and be transported to sunny Spain once again!”

The Pata Negra pop-up will run from Friday 13 October until Saturday 25 November at Bambalan in Bristol. The kitchen is open from 12pm-10pm seven days a week and bookings can be made on the Bambalan website https://bambalan.co.uk/
