Bath Children’s Literature Festival returns to The Egg Theatre with a programme, jam-packed full of fantastic events to engage children and celebrate reading.

Author Bethan Stevens’ popular children’s book, A Damsel Not In Distress takes to the stage in a new pantomime performance, specially adapted for the festival. The fun-filled, interactive play visits Bath on Saturday 30 September at 11am and is recommended for children aged 5 years and over.

Also on Saturday 30 September, as part of Bath Children’s Literature Festival, author-illustrator Emily Coxhead aims to bring a little bit of sunshine in Find Your Happy. This uplifting and interactive event at 2pm, shows audiences aged 3 years and over there is always a way to “find their own happy”. Packed full of inspiration and practical ideas, Emily, who is founder of The Happy News, will investigate what makes us happy and how audiences can leave smiling.

Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre return to Bath Children’s Literature Festival due to popular demand, with Adventuremice!, a brand-new, silly series for early readers. Plucky hero, Pedro is tiny, but looking for a big adventure, as he meets the brave and determined Adventuremice who keep the Mouse Islands safe from harm. Children aged 5 years and over can expect interactive storytelling as they help Philip and Sarah create new islands for the Adventuremice, in this tale that is fun for the whole family, on Sunday 1 October at 11am.

The final event at The Egg as part of Bath Children’s Literature Festival is Saving Neverland, written by bestselling children’s author Abi Elphinstone and perfect for children aged 8 years and over. This rip-roaring twist on the story of Peter Pan, presented at 3pm on Sunday 1 October, features moonpaper maps, frostbears and a woolly mammoth called Armageddon. Abi invites audiences to join her as she reveals some of the real-life adventures behind her stories.
