Bath tourism partners work together to welcome visitors to the city

Bath & North East Somerset Council has joined with Bath BID, the World Heritage Centre, Bath Forum, and Visit West to ensure a warm welcome to all visitors to Bath this summer. In this new approach to providing tourist information in the city, each partner plays an important part in enhancing visitors’ experience.

Bath BID’s Welcome Ambassadors provide a friendly welcome from the moment visitors arrive in the city. The team of 25 volunteers are out and about in the city all year round, offering an informative and welcoming service to visitors and residents alike.

The World Heritage Centre, located near the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey, is an excellent first stop for anyone looking to get the most from their visit. Since opening last year, the centre has welcomed more than 72,000 from across the world and provides a friendly and knowledgeable introduction to the city. Alongside interactive displays on Bath’s rich heritage, walking trails, and a specially designed mobile app to inspire visitors to discover the city, the team are also on hand with recommendations for days out and hidden gems to explore.

The Visit Bath website is the central hub for anyone looking to plan their visit, find out what’s on, and book accommodation; whilst Bath Forum is the booking office for many of Bath’s cultural events.

Councillor Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic & Cultural Sustainable Development, said: “Visitors to Bath are really spoilt for choice. We want everyone who visits Bath to get the most from their stay and discover all that our wonderful city has to offer; with this new approach to tourist information we are working in partnership with our local tourism experts to provide a warm welcome for all." 

“From helping visitors plan their days at the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, or one of our excellent art galleries, to pointing out the hidden details in the Circus and Royal Crescent, the many staff and volunteers involved have enjoyed sharing their knowledge.”

Kathryn Davis, Managing Director of Visit West, said: “This is a collaborative approach from a strong partnership to help visitors in the city to have access to ticket booking and information, with thousands of copies of the Official Bath Visitor Guide already in circulation and available at key destinations, and points of entry to both the region and the city. We have seen record numbers of visitors use the Visit Bath website this year, and are delighted to see that Bath is a favourite destination for those travelling within the UK and internationally.”
