Forwards Festival returns to Clifton Downs from Friday 1 - Saturday 2 September for a weekend of incredible music, important debates and family-fun entertainment for all to enjoy.

The second edition of the hugely successful Forwards Festival will take place over the first weekend of September with a jam-packed schedule of family entertainment set to take place at the Kids Area.

Bristol-based Campus Skateboarding will be providing a half-pipe, where young and aspiring Tony Hawkes can kit themselves up with skateboards, knee pads and helmets as they tackle ollie’s and air grabs. Founded in 2011, the non-profit organisation has utilised positive energy and influence of skateboarding to engage with children and young people.

Access Creative College will be hosting ‘Buskers Corner’ where young ones can brush up on their musical skills and play with instruments, before taking to the stage with an open-mic performance on the Bandstand. No stranger to bringing total shenanigans and non-stop extravagance wherever they go is School of Drag. Visitors can expect inclusive story-telling, catwalks and crafting from the Bristol-based collective over the weekend.

Expect bright and colourful art boards to welcome visitors inside. Created by the children at St Paul’s Adventure Playground will unleash complete creativity as they design artworks this August ready to display at Forwards. Those involved in this community project will also come along to the festival to see their work take pride of place for all to see.

With a jam-packed programme for the young and young at heart, music lovers can look forwards to September as the place to bring the whole family and collectively chill out and enjoy the non-stop vibes of Bristol’s newest Festival. From soft play with a ball pool from Absolute Bounce and crafting workshops from Let’s Make Art where children can have a go at crafting tambourines to interactive story-telling from Bristol Libraries and immersive science shows from Explorer Dome - there’s something for everyone. There will also be performances throughout the day on the Bandstand including a children’s performance from Kid Carpet and an immersive adventure show from The Adventure Team.

Tom Paine, Festival Director at Forwards Festival, said: “We couldn’t be happier with the programme for the Kids Area this year. We’ve brought some great people from the city together to create the best two days of entertainment for the entire family.”

With a stellar music line-up including R&B legend Erikah Badu and electronic-icon Aphex Twin headlining the weekend along with Munroe Bergdorf, Liv Little and Goldie leading discussions on the Information Stage, music lovers can look forward to nothing but excellence from this year's festival.

Tickets are on sale and to check out the full line-up of performances and activities, head to the Forwards website and follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for all updates and information.
