From the 18th to the 20th August, as part of Bristol UNESCO City of Film’s Summer Film Takeover, Aardman is bringing its iconic characters to Sparks Bristol in a series of free animation workshops and screenings.

This weekend of animation kicks off with the ‘Amazing Scene Machine’ workshop led by renowned animator Jim Parkyn, where visitors to Broadmead will be invited to make their own characters to join a large animation scene celebrating life on land and under the sea. The scene will be displayed in the window of Sparks Bristol along with a stop motion film of the creation process.

On Saturday and Sunday, clay modelling workshops will unleash the skills of budding animators, who will create a flock of over one hundred Shaun The Sheep and a giant sized pack of Gromits.

Workshops are suitable for all ages and are free for all to attend. On Saturday at 11am there will be an autism and neuro-diverse friendly children’s workshop with a BSL interpreter.

Numbers are limited and must be booked in advance via https://aardmanatsparks.eventbrite.co.uk

On the ground floor of Sparks, among the departments of travel, retail, fashion and re-use, favourite Aardman films will be free to see in a pop-up cinema. Highlights include Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas, The Epic Adventures of Morph, and Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year!

Sparks Bristol is a partnership between Artspace Lifespace and Global Goals Centre offering Bristol a ‘Department Store with A Difference’, a welcoming place where people can buy local produce and learn about ways to live more sustainably. By bringing the hugely popular Aardman to Sparks, more families will have the opportunity to discover tips and tricks to re-use and recycle.
