Drivers are being advised about a series of lane closures on A roads in the Bath & North East Somerset Council area as part of maintenance works.

A rolling programme of grass and verge cutting, gully cleansing, litter picking, street light maintenance and road sweeping will take place between 19 and 27 June. Pothole repairs will also occur, as well as highway patching using the council’s Thermal Road Repair technology.

The following highways will be affected:

  • A4174 Avon Ring Road
  • A4 Keynsham Bypass
  • A4 Bath Road
  • A4 Bristol Road
  • A37 Upper Bristol Road
  • A39 Bath Road

Work will also be carried out on several major roundabouts, including Hicks Gate, Chelwood and Broadmead.

All works will be carried out between 9:15am and 4pm to reduce the impact on traffic, however Bath & North East Somerset Council is advising people to plan their journeys in advance.

Several teams from across the council are coordinating their activities to carry out their works simultaneously, reducing disruption to motorists and residents.

The routine maintenance and cleansing works will be carried out under single lane closures, avoiding full road closures and no work will be carried out over the weekend to minimise disruption.

Councillor Manda Rigby, cabinet member for Transport, said: “We know our A roads receive a high volume of traffic so it’s important we coordinate our efforts to keep traffic flowing and minimise disruption. We want to thank people for their patience while this essential highway maintenance is carried out.”
