Bristol Bears have been drawn in Pool One of the 2023/24 Champions Cup and will take on French Top 14 sides Bordeaux-Begles and Lyon, as well as Irish province Connacht and South African side Blue Bulls.
Also in Pool One are Gallagher Premiership champions Saracens, but there will be no same-league clashes in the group stages.
An intriguing draw sets up an immediate showdown with Joe Joyce, who made the switch to Connacht this summer, and Semi Radradra's Lyon, as well as a mouthwatering clash against Bordeaux-Begles, who Pat Lam's side have faced twice in the past four seasons.
The fixture schedules for both tournaments with dates, venues, kick-off times and TV coverage will be announced as soon as possible. Fixtures will be determined using an algorithm which will take into consideration the pool draws, league calendar restrictions, individual club calendar restrictions and broadcast requirements.
