Taking over Kitchen by KASK on Wednesday 28 June at 7pm, Bristol supermarket manager Woei John Lee will prepare a Malaysian feast like no other, following his stint on hit BBC One cooking show, MasterChef.

Sharing his favourite Malaysian dishes, the Bristol-based cook appeared on MasterChef UK this year and gained praise for his ‘flawless’ opening dish. Since leaving the show, Woei has left his job so he can focus entirely on his passion for food and build a career from it. Joining All About the Cooks is one of the first steps he’s taken after making this big decision.

As the Kitchen prep begins, foodies can look forward to a delectable menu of prawn and pork dumplings drizzled with crispy chicken skin chilli oil, black vinegar and soy sauce to start; followed by beef short rib Rendang with blue basmati rice and crispy fried okra.

A solely vegetarian menu will also be on offer, with a starter of dumplings filled with tofu, carrots, shitake mushroom and glass noodles and drizzled with fermented black bean chilli oil, black rice vinegar and soy sauce. For main, veggie guests can look forward to an authentic Malaysian King mushroom and tempeh rendang, with blue rice, fried okra and pickle shallots.

To complete his tantalising-taste-bud journey, the Masterchef contestant will be serving up Teh Tarik (Malaysian Milk Tea) panna cotta with pistachio crumb and pandan sponge for dessert (suitable for vegetarians).

The wine-derful team at KASK will be providing the drinks, curated especially to complement the intricate flavours of Woei’s Malaysian medley. Three courses cost £50 and tickets can be purchased from the All About the Cooks website. For those who miss out, Woei’s dishes will be available for delivery at home or for collection from his house in Brislington - giving people the chance to order to eat in the comfort of their home by ordering directly from All About the Cooks.

As the platform continues to grow, All About the Cooks now has over 70 registered home-cooks cooking and sharing their food from countries all over the world with their neighbours and communities in both Bristol and Bath. With another former Masterchef personality soon to be announced - keep an eye out to see where even more authentic home-cooked magic might appear.
