Unicornfest is proud to announce the launch of its education programme in collaboration with Bridging Histories and the Bristol History Commission.

The education pack, a free resource written by Bridging Histories, will help students explore their personal and local histories ahead of the Unicorn Trail which will hit our streets this summer.

Have fun with unicorns whilst exploring your history!

This incredible programme, accessible to all schools and institutions in Bristol and the Southwest, aims to inspire students to promote positive change in Bristol.

There are four stages to the programme: firstly, encouraging connection between students through poetry and recipe sharing and creation, secondly research of local and family history, thirdly exploration into what it takes to be a changemaker. Then, finally using all that research to inspire the decoration of individual unicorns.

There is even the opportunity for schools to have their very own real-life unicorn foal. Already over 40 schools and community organisations have agreed to donate £750 to take possession of their personal foal which they can decorate, before they are assembled around the Colston Statue to signify positive change for the future at the end of June.

The foals will then join the unicorn trail that spreads throughout the city from July.

About Unicornfest

Unicornfest will see a herd of life-sized unicorns designed by Bristol artists, from Inkie to Silent Hobo to Holy Moly, placed in 55 prominent destinations across Bristol and beyond between July and September this summer.

Part of the 650 Years of Bristol celebrations running this year, the nine-week trail will end with an auction of the ‘blessing’ (that’s a group of unicorns!) which will raise funds for Leukaemia Care.

About Leukaemia Care

Around 10,000 people per year are diagnosed with leukaemia, and the UK’s leading leukaemia charity, Leukaemia Care, offers support to them all.

For over 50 years, the organisation has ensured that everyone affected receives the best possible diagnosis, information, advice, treatment and support. Their wide range of support services ensures that people get information, practical and emotional support at the times when they need it. This year, they have funded a hospital support worker within Bristol to be on hand at haematology clinics to give advice and signpost services that actively improve the lives of people living with leukaemia.

Unicornfest is set to raise tens of thousands for the charity to help continue their work in Bristol and beyond.
