Available over at the Beyond Submergence website from midday and starting at £15 for an adult ticket, they’re sure to go fast as the never-before-seen 20,000sq ft immersive experience will make use of Propyard’s vast industrial spaces and areas - welcoming guests to explore a series of works that run in a sequence.

With their approach of designing for a specific location and building on their existing body of work, Squidsoup’s Beyond Submergence exhibition will be the first and only of its kind. Tailored to the specific architecture of Propyard and the space within, never again will visitors be able to experience this journey like this.

Fresh from their sell-out shows with FourTet at Ally Pally, pioneers of light and experts in their use of space, sound, scale, movement and technology, Squidsoup is known across the globe for creating immersive experiences that evoke emotional responses from guests. With several travelling artworks as part of their in-demand portfolio, several of the largest pieces are soon to be merged together in Beyond Submergence, Squidsoup’s first ever exhibition and the first time to experience these pieces all together.

“You are about to enter a different kind of space, an experience you may not be familiar with. Take the time - before you begin, to forget the outside world - to relax and open yourself to the unexpected. Get accustomed to a slower pace, and prepare your eyes and ears, for these artworks are about light, sound, space... allow your mind to wander, to follow through with the associations that may come to it; explore them, enjoy the evocations, feelings and memories they bring.” - Squidsoup.

One of Squidsoup’s largest pieces, Submergence, is an immersive walkthrough experience which uses thousands of individual points of suspended light to create feelings of presence and movement within a physical space. Creating an abstract narrative, a gradual increase in tension culminates in a natural climax. Singularity, another of Squidsoup’s impressive installations, is a monolithic suspended sphere of abstract and dynamic light and movement. Unpredictable and transitional, Beyond Submergence will welcome and consume visitors with its magic.

Sam Watts, Head of Programming at Propyard said: “Set your alarms Bristol, as you don’t want to miss this. These artworks are inspirational beyond compare. You may have seen Squidsoup before, but not like this. We’ve seen what they are planning, and featured in our unique space - and it’s going to be mind blowing.”

Anthony Rowe, Squidsoup founder, said of Beyond Submergence: "Beyond Submergence is the biggest ever showcase of our works in one setting and doing it in Bristol feels very fitting. It’s close to home and a seminal moment for us. Putting the project together has been a fascinating process of discovery and rediscovery of our work - we found synergies and connections between these projects that we hadn’t really noticed before.

“Propyard is the perfect venue to premiere Beyond Submergence. Our values are in sync completely - to inspire and excite - and the space is a complete one-off in the centre of this very special city. Bristol has always responded positively and supportively to our installations and interventions since we first showed here in 2004. We’re almost 20 years on and back with a completely unique experience for visitors.”

Tickets to Beyond Submergence will be on sale from 12PM on Wednesday 17 May 2023 for £15 + booking fee for an adult and £5 + booking fee for children. The ultimate day out for families and art fans everywhere, Beyond Submergence’s affordable ticket prices keeps this summer activity accessible to all those who wish to experience the exhibition and immerse in its magic.
