Beyond Submergence will be a world-first 20,000sq ft. exhibition, curated by Cheltenham-based award-winning art collective Squidsoup - with tickets on sale Wednesday 10 May at 9am here. Pre-sale sign-ups are now open.

“You are about to enter a different kind of space, an experience you may not be familiar with. Take the time - before you begin to forget the outside world - to relax and open yourself to the unexpected. Get accustomed to a slower pace, and prepare your eyes and ears, for these artworks are about light, sound, space... allow your mind to wander, to follow through with the associations that may come to it; explore them, enjoy the evocations, feelings and memories they bring.” - Squidsoup.

Masterful in their use of light, space, sound, scale, movement and technology, Squidsoup create immersive experiences that invite an emotional response from guests. With several travelling artworks as part of their in-demand portfolio, which pull in crowds wherever in the world they find themselves, five of the largest pieces are now being brought together for the very first time in Beyond Submergence.

The exhibition will make use of Propyard’s vast industrial spaces and areas - welcoming guests to explore a series of works that run in a sequence. Designed to be seen in groups, from any angle, from within or the edges, the artworks are both inclusive and immersive; blurring the boundaries between the works and the spaces they inhabit.

“Starting with a gentle calmness, the atmosphere moves through melancholia and joy, using increased scale, edge, brightness and volume to reach a final crescendo where visitors are encompassed with sound and light. By entering into the orbit of a piece, they become part of the experience, a part of the work.” - Squidsoup.

Anthony Rowe, Squidsoup founder, said of Beyond Submergence: "Beyond Submergence is the biggest ever showcase of our works in one setting and doing it in Bristol feels very fitting. It’s close to home and a seminal moment for us. Putting the project together has been a fascinating process of discovery and rediscovery of our work - we found synergies and connections between these projects that we hadn’t really noticed before.

“Propyard is the perfect venue to premiere Beyond Submergence. Our values are in sync completely - to inspire and excite - and the space is a complete one-off in the centre of this very special city. Bristol has always responded positively and supportively to our installations and interventions since we first showed here in 2004. We’re almost 20 years on and back with a completely unique experience for visitors.”

Sam Watts, Head of Programming at Propyard said: “You don’t want to miss this! These artworks are inspirational beyond compare. Get ready Bristol - we’ve seen what Squidsoup are planning, and featured in our unique space, this is going to be mind blowing.”

Details of the artworks will be announced shortly, and Bristol residents and visitors are encouraged to sign up for pre-sale here to be the first to hear about the first tickets going on sale for the exhibition. Tickets are limited and are expected to sell very fast.
