This walk is a partnership between Bristol Improv Theatre and Angie Belcher. Together they are using their love of delighting and inspiring audiences through improvised, participative theatre and comedy to take a quirky look at the hidden histories of Bristol.

The walk is written and produced by Angie Belcher in partnership with  Bristol Improv Theatre. The Bristol Comedy History Walk is being delivered as one of the activities under the City Centre and High Streets Recovery and Renewal programme, funded by Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority’s Love our High Street project.

You can just rock up to join this free walk, but places are limited so best go to  http://www.improvtheatre.co.uk to reserve a place.

About Angie Belcher

Angie has created, produced and written “The Bristol Comedy History Walk”. The pilot was created as part of her role as Comedian in Residence at University of Bristol, using Comedy to improve health in the city. In 2022 Bristol Live named Angie Bristol’s 2nd most influential woman for her pioneering work in comedy and health and she was awarded Comedian of Emancipation in The Hague, Netherlands for her work using stand -up comedy education therapeutically for the NHS.

For more than fifteen years, Angie has been specialising in the link between comedy and mental health. Her Comedy on Referral program attracted global coverage when the project was launched, using stand-up comedy workshops to help people in recovery from trauma for the NHS, the first of its kind in the world. She was also commissioned by the NHS to provide stand-up comedy projects for men at Risk of suicide through the charity Rethink.
