To celebrate their 10th birthday, Tessa Bide Productions is touring The Tap Dancing Mermaid, their very popular, first ever production for ages 3+.

The Tap Dancing Mermaid will play at The Wardrobe Theatre, Bristol from 12-16 February 2023.

Come along and hear The Moon’s story about a tippety-top tap dancer who he has been watching at night. Marina Skippett creeps out to tap dance on the boardwalk to the sounds of the sea. She can’t tap dance at home anymore since her evil, tractor-sized Aunty banned it! Then, one magical night, Marina meets a mysterious watery boy swimming alone and her life is never the same again!

Marina, The Moon and a bunch of beautiful, hand-crafted mer-puppets feature in this innovative and exciting one-woman show written and performed by Tessa Bide and based on her book of the same name.

Tessa Bide says: “It's so special to be returning with the show that started it all off for me to celebrate the company’s 10th birthday. It has a special place in my heart and I am so excited to be taking it to some of our favourite venues and to share the story with a new generation of young theatregoers.”

The Tap Dancing Mermaid features brilliant live music, stunning puppets and tap dance! For mer-boys and mer-girls 3 years and up.

The production has previously received glowing reviews:

“The Tap Dancing Mermaid is the perfect example of a show where the adults are just as enthralled as the kids.” ★★★★ A Younger Theatre.

“If you drew up a checklist of all the things a good children’s show should contain, The Tap Dancing Mermaid would tick every box.” ★★★★ The List.

“Tessa Bide understands children in a way that can’t be taught…” Childrens’ Theatre Reviews
